The Kitchen Utility Worker role at The Oncenter is a part-time, non-exempt position within the Food & Beverage department. The position reports directly to the Executive Sous Chef/Executive Chef and offers a pay rate starting at $17.06 per hour, increasing to $17.40 per hour from July 1, 2026, as stipulated by the union contract. The work schedule is flexible and dependent on event needs, with hours ranging from 0 to 30 per week.
This role is critical in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen and customer service areas by performing dishwashing tasks and ensuring that all kitchen equipment, dishes, and service ware meet established quality and consistency guidelines. The Kitchen Utility Worker is responsible for cleaning various kitchen utensils, pots, pans, trays, and banquet service ware, as well as maintaining safe, clean, and organized workspaces. Routine periodic cleaning of floors, food storage rooms, walk-in coolers, and freezer rooms is expected. Additionally, the role involves teamwork and maintaining professional relationships with coworkers, adherence to sanitation and safety standards, and the delivery of exceptional hospitality aligned with New York State laws and organizational policies.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- six months experience in a food and beverage or warehouse environment preferred
- ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- professional appearance and attitude
- reliable attendance and punctuality
- ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
- ability to follow directions and work independently as well as in a team
- physical ability to perform tasks such as standing, walking, lifting over 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and maneuvering around the facility
- must maintain guest service standards in compliance with New York State laws and company policies
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED

Job Duties
- Wash all equipment and dishes in the kitchen including pots, pans, trays, and banquet service ware
- ensure all dishes, pots, pans, and trays are clean when removed from automatic dishwasher
- return all kitchen equipment to its proper storage area
- maintain safe floors in kitchen and customer service work areas
- thoroughly clean all hard tile floors periodically throughout the day and at the end of the day including food storage room, walk in cooler, and freezer room
- maintain a safe, clean, organized, and stocked work area following sanitation standards
- maintain a professional appearance and professional relationship with coworkers at all times
- provide total guest satisfaction through skilled and capable service in accordance with New York State laws and regulations as well as Company policies, practices, and procedures
- other duties as assigned
