Opaa! Food Management, Inc. is a well-established food service management company operating in eight states across the Midwest. This position involves preparing breakfast and/or lunch offerings, assisting with serving lines, and participating in occasional catering functions. It requires versatility as the employee will perform all positions within the kitchen, ensuring smooth operations and maintaining food safety and quality standards. Key responsibilities include the preparation of menu items according to Opaa!'s recipes, setting up serving lines, operating kitchen equipment properly, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and serving areas, and adhering to compliance regulations including HACCP processes and federal meal pattern guidelines such as HHFKA and CACFP. Additionally, this role involves administrative duties like handling customer transactions, completing necessary paperwork, and submitting work hours appropriately.
Employees in this role must be physically capable of performing tasks such as standing for extended periods, lifting up to 60 pounds occasionally, and handling tasks that require good vision and manual dexterity. Working conditions can include exposure to mechanical parts, varying temperatures including extreme heat and cold, and exposure to chemicals. The environment is typically noisy and requires adherence to strict safety protocols.
Candidates should ideally have a high school diploma or GED or possess up to one month of related experience or equivalent training. The ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence is required, as well as basic math skills and commonsense reasoning. Familiarity with kitchen equipment such as dishwashers, ovens, fryers, slicers, and meal counting software is important. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and write simple correspondence

- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to follow instructions

Job Duties
- Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at required temperatures
- Assist in food preparation according to menu plans and recipes
- Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification
- Maintain clean, neat, and organized work and serving areas
- Clean kitchen and cafeteria equipment and dishes
- Keep inventory organized and follow FIFO procedures
- Clean and maintain dishwashing area and equipment
- Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager
- Prepare baked goods as required and present attractively
- Conduct batch cooking to maintain quality and presentation
- Set up and restock serving lines and bar areas
- Serve food items with proper portions and utensils
- Ensure serving lines are stocked with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes
- Prepare foods in compliance with menu plans and recipes
- Follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency
- Recognize reimbursable meals and comply with meal pattern regulations
- Maintain accurate daily production records
- Follow HACCP safety procedures and maintain food safety logs
- Observe safety rules and report unsafe conditions
- Participate in safety programs and meetings
- Handle customer transactions and operate cash registers
- Complete tray counts and meal reconciliation
- Submit work hours accurately
- Notify supervisors of shift coverage issues
- Perform other duties as assigned
