Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Up to one month related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence
- Capability to write simple correspondence
- Basic mathematical skills
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Physical ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally and perform physical kitchen tasks
- Certification to operate certain kitchen equipment
- Adherence to food safety and health regulations
- Good vision including depth perception and color recognition
- Willingness to work in varying temperature conditions and noisy environments
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions and write simple correspondence
- Effective communication skills in one-on-one and small group settings
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and interpreting bar graphs
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to follow instructions
- Familiarity with kitchen equipment and food service software
- Experience in food preparation and kitchen operations preferred
- Knowledge of food safety standards and compliance
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Assist with the set-up of serving lines daily and ensure all food is held at required temperatures
- Assist in food preparation according to menu plans and recipes
- Operate kitchen equipment such as slicers, mixers, and grinders with proper certification
- Maintain clean, neat, and organized work and serving areas
- Clean kitchen and cafeteria equipment and dishes
- Keep inventory organized and follow FIFO procedures
- Clean and maintain dishwashing area and equipment
- Requisition food and supplies through the Kitchen Manager
- Prepare baked goods as required and present attractively
- Conduct batch cooking to maintain quality and presentation
- Set up and restock serving lines and bar areas
- Serve food items with proper portions and utensils
- Ensure serving lines are stocked with food items, napkins, silverware, and dishes
- Prepare foods in compliance with menu plans and recipes
- Follow standardized recipes to ensure consistency
- Recognize reimbursable meals and comply with meal pattern regulations
- Maintain accurate daily production records
- Follow HACCP safety procedures and maintain food safety logs
- Observe safety rules and report unsafe conditions
- Participate in safety programs and meetings
- Handle customer transactions and operate cash registers
- Complete tray counts and meal reconciliation
- Submit work hours accurately
- Notify supervisors of shift coverage issues
- Perform other duties as assigned
