Job Description
St. Francis Catholic Kindergarten & Nursery is a respected childcare center known for its commitment to providing a safe, faith-filled, and developmentally appropriate environment for young children. Located within the Diocese of Austin, St. Francis Catholic Kindergarten & Nursery operates with a strong community and religious foundation focused on the holistic growth and well-being of children. The institution is dedicated to nurturing the spiritual, intellectual, and social development of its attendees through a variety of educational and care programs carefully designed to meet the standards of early childhood education. As part of a faith-based organization, the center embraces Catholic values and integrates these principles into daily activities, ensuring a close connection between educational objectives and spiritual formation.
The role of Food Service Assistant at St. Francis Catholic Kindergarten & Nursery is a part-time position that plays an essential part in supporting the mission of the center. This candidate will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and service of meals and snacks for young children while adhering to strict food safety regulations and childcare licensing requirements. The position demands dependability, organizational skills, and a service-oriented attitude, ensuring that each meal is served in a clean, safe, and nurturing environment. The Food Service Assistant also contributes to maintaining a warm atmosphere for children and staff by demonstrating courtesy, patience, and respect throughout their duties.
This role requires close collaboration with the childcare staff and adherence to guidelines outlined by multiple governing bodies, including the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), the Diocese of Austin, Health and Human Services, and the local Health Department. Responsibilities include preparing lunches and snacks, maintaining accurate food production records, ensuring compliance with health regulations, and managing kitchen cleanliness and sanitation. The candidate must be attentive to detail in monitoring expiration dates, managing inventory, and supporting supply ordering processes.
Working at St. Francis Catholic Kindergarten & Nursery also means embracing its ministerial character and supporting the mission of the Pastor. Employees are considered collaborators in the extension of the Church’s ministry, engaging directly in ministry through their roles and maintaining confidentiality and professionalism at all times. The working conditions reflect this unique environment, requiring respect for religious ceremonies and adherence to established dress codes and conduct expectations.
This position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to a faith-driven educational community while gaining experience in food service within a childcare setting. The Food Service Assistant is expected to work approximately 4-6 hours per day, Monday through Friday, with schedules to be determined. The role is ideal for candidates who seek part-time employment with a strong service orientation and a desire to work in a faith-based childcare environment where food safety, sanitation, and nurturing care are paramount.
