Additionally, there are opportunities to assist with inventory management and product ordering as needed, alongside other duties assigned by managerial or chef staff, including occasional support in dishwashing during emergencies. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including daytime, evening, late night, and weekend schedules to accommodate the restaurant’s operational needs. The kitchen assistant must demonstrate a strong commitment to quality service, possess adequate knowledge of food handling and preparation, and be able to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks involving bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and standing for extended periods are necessary to meet the demands of the job. Wearing appropriate restaurant industry-specific non-slip shoes and adhering to cleaning and hygiene standards are also mandatory aspects of this role. Job Qualifications
- College or culinary training preferred but not necessary
- good level of cooking and production experience preferred
- understanding of proper use of major kitchen equipment including stoves, grills, refrigeration, slicer, knives, and warmers
- commitment to quality service and food knowledge
- Serve Safe or other recognized hygiene qualification required
- positive attitude and ability to work well with team members
- ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced restaurant environment
- ability to reach, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds
- willingness to work in hot/cold, humid/dry environments and stand for 7-8 hour shifts
- flexible to changing work hours including daytime, evening, late night, and weekends
- ability to follow directions and ask questions for clarification
- effective communication skills with managers, kitchen, sushi bar, and dining personnel

Job Duties
- Assist head chef and kitchen chefs in food production for lunch, dinner, and possibly late night shifts
- responsible for daily kitchen operations
- ensure all recipes, food preparations, and presentations meet proper specifications and quality standards
- maintain a safe, orderly, and clean kitchen using proper food handling techniques
- keep kitchen and storage areas clean and organized
- assist with product ordering and inventory maintenance when necessary
- perform other duties as requested such as dishwashing in emergencies
