Job Description
The Maryland Food Bank (MFB) is a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to fighting hunger and strengthening communities throughout Maryland. Established with a mission to feed people, empower communities, and ultimately end hunger across the state, MFB plays an essential role in addressing food insecurity. As one of the largest food banks in the region, MFB distributes food through an extensive statewide network of community-based organizations, ensuring that nutritious food reaches individuals and families from Maryland’s western mountains to the Eastern Shore. In the previous year, the Maryland Food Bank distributed food equivalent to more than 41 million meals, averaging about 114,000 meals each day. This impactful work supports vulnerable populations including children, seniors, veterans, and hardworking families who face food insecurity. Beyond food distribution, MFB is committed to tackling the root causes of hunger by providing job training programs, access to supportive services and benefits, and advocating for changes in laws, policies, and practices that contribute to food insecurity for over one-third of Marylanders. The Maryland Food Bank prides itself on embracing diversity and cultivating an inclusive work environment where all employees can thrive and contribute their fullest potential. The organization fosters a culture that values ethical standards and safety commitments, requiring background checks and drug screening for all positions to ensure a safe, reliable workforce.About the Kitchen Porter Position:The Kitchen Porter role at the Maryland Food Bank is a critical entry-level position supporting the FoodWorks Meal Program by maintaining a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment.
