Job Description

The hiring establishment is a child care services provider that places a high emphasis on nutritional standards, food safety, and quality meal preparation for children. The organization operates under strict guidelines, including those set forth by the Mississippi State Board of Health and ServSafe certification standards. It is dedicated to maintaining a healthy, clean, and inviting kitchen environment to ensure the wellbeing of the children it serves. As a provider, it collaborates closely with directors and operational staff to manage food inventories and budget considerations effectively. This establishment values reliability, certification in food safety, and a proactive approach to meeting the dietary needs of children, including those with allergies or special dietary requirements.- The Kitchen Manager role is a key position focused on preparing and serving attractive, nutritionally balanced meals to children in the care setting. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for ensuring all meals meet established nutritional standards and quality control procedures. This includes using standard recipes, controlling portions accurately, and being mindful of special menus for children with allergies or those requiring ethnic-specific foods. The individual must coordinate with the Director of Childcare Services and Director of Operations to manage food purchasing, inventory, and budgeting to ensure efficient use of resources and compliance with program requirements. Maintaining a sanitary and safe kitchen environment in line with ServSafe standards is critical to this role to prevent contamination and promote food safety. This position demands the ability to keep food storage organized and to order necessary supplies on a scheduled basis, typically once weekly. Continuous learning is encouraged to stay informed about nutrition and menu planning improvements in childcare settings. The position requires physical capability to handle tasks such as lifting, pushing, and moving equipment, and working for extended periods while standing. Candidates must hold or be willing to obtain required certifications such as ServSafe, CPR, and First Aid. This role is pivotal in supporting the childcare service’s mission to deliver quality care through excellent nutrition and food safety practices. The employment type is likely full-time, given the responsibilities, and while salary specifics are not provided, the role offers significant opportunity for professional development within the child care nutrition field.
