Job Description
H-E-B is one of the largest, independently owned food retailers in the nation, operating over 400 stores throughout Texas and Mexico, with annual sales generating over $31 billion. Known for leading the way with creative new concepts, H-E-B continues to expand its footprint by venturing into new markets, including the Restaurant & Bar sector. This move combines exceptional food quality with outstanding service, designed to deliver a distinctive yet familiar neighborhood dining experience. The company prides itself on its commitment to customer satisfaction, innovation, and community involvement, fostering a culture where employees, referred to as Partners, are valued and empowered. H-E-B’s reputation as a partner-owned company means that its greatest asset—the People—drive its innovation, growth, and success, making it one of the most respected retail companies in the omnichannel space.
As a Kitchen Manager at True Texas BBQ, a prominent restaurant concept within H-E-B, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly, efficiently, and in line with the company’s high standards for food quality and customer service. This position focuses on restaurant operations, involving the oversight of menu execution, kitchen management, and the supervision and development of staff. You will be responsible for leading by example, providing hands-on leadership while also supporting and mentoring your team to foster an environment of collaboration and excellence. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include scheduling shifts, training Partners, managing inventory, and ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are strictly followed.
In addition to operational and management duties, this role offers the opportunity to become an Owner of the company once eligibility requirements are met. This reflects H-E-B’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding dedication, hard work, and a consistent focus on quality and customer service. As a partner-owned establishment, the Kitchen Manager not only manages but also shares in the success of the company.
Successful candidates will demonstrate a genuine HEART FOR PEOPLE, the ability to lead a high-volume production kitchen while fostering teamwork across the restaurant. They will possess a HEAD FOR BUSINESS, combining expertise and creativity to sustain a competitive advantage. A PASSION FOR RESULTS is essential, with an entrepreneurial spirit and willingness to take calculated risks to drive success. The role demands advanced leadership, communication, and customer service skills, embodying a true model of hospitality and urgency.
As part of the H-E-B team, you will work in an environment that values diversity, inclusion, and continuous improvement. The company offers extensive training and development programs, including an internal School of Retail Management, to support career growth. The Kitchen Manager role will provide you with the tools and platform to develop professionally and personally, in a fast-paced retail setting that offers a dynamic and rewarding work experience. If you are ready to contribute your skills and embrace the challenge of managing a restaurant kitchen within a leading food and beverage company, H-E-B invites you to join their team and make a meaningful impact.
