Job Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred or equivalent
  • 1-2 years of proven experience as a kitchen manager preferred
  • Hands-on experience with planning menus and ordering ingredients
  • Knowledge of a wide range of recipes
  • Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Ability to manage a team in a fast-paced work environment

Job Duties

  • Manage kitchen staff and coordinate food orders
  • Supervise food prep and cooking
  • Check food plating and temperature
  • Establish portion sizes
  • Schedule kitchen staff shifts
  • Price menu items in collaboration with the Restaurant Manager
  • Order food supplies and kitchen equipment as needed
  • Train kitchen staff in prep work and food plating techniques
  • Store food products in compliance with safety practices
  • Keep weekly and monthly cost reports
  • Maintain sanitation and safety standards in the kitchen area
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training kitchen staff
  • Daily supervision of kitchen staff including communicating company policies, standards, and procedures
  • Assist in kitchen staff annual reviews
  • Partner with management on staff disciplinary action
  • Serve as a resource by answering questions, conducting training, preparing educational materials, and mentoring
  • Monitor kitchen staff assignments, schedules, and job function completion to ensure coverage
