Job Description

This job opportunity is with a company that specializes in managing food services across multiple school sites, a key player in the educational food services industry dedicated to providing nutritious meals to students. The company places a strong emphasis on quality, compliance, efficiency, and a positive work environment. Their commitment extends beyond just serving food; they focus on nutritional standards, food safety, and regulatory adherence to ensure every meal served supports the well-being and growth of students. By managing multiple cafeterias, they create seamless dining experiences that align with federal and state child nutrition programs, supporting the academic success and health of children in the communities they serve. This role is an essential part of their operational model, reflecting their commitment to leadership, flexibility, and exceptional service standards.

The position of Kitchen Manager Floater involves a dynamic and flexible work setting where the successful candidate will travel between various school locations to manage kitchen operations. Unlike a stationary kitchen manager role limited to one site, this role demands adaptability as the manager must confidently oversee different teams, kitchen layouts, and operational challenges across multiple campuses. This opportunity is designed for an experienced kitchen manager who enjoys leading diverse groups, is highly organized, and thrives in fast-paced environments requiring problem-solving and quick adjustment to new situations.

The kitchen manager floater is responsible for supervising daily food production, ensuring health and safety standards are met, managing inventory and supplies, and leading kitchen teams to meet service expectations. The role demands strong attention to detail in documentation and report submissions, which are critical for compliance with ServSafe, HACCP, and child nutrition program guidelines. This role also requires a proactive approach to labor management and schedule adjustments to optimize both coverage and cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, the kitchen manager floater serves as a site leader during their assignment, acting as the primary contact for both staff and school administration, fostering a collaborative and positive culture among the kitchen teams.

This full-time position runs from Monday through Friday, with occasional extended weeks as needed, requiring reliable transportation for daily travel between multiple school sites. The company values candidates with strong communication skills, a customer service-oriented mindset, especially towards children, and the willingness to embrace new environments and teams. Physical demands include standing for entire shifts, the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and handling various physical activities necessary in a kitchen setting. The company offers a supportive and inclusive work culture as an equal opportunity employer, promoting diversity and compliance with all employment eligibility programs. This role represents an excellent career path for motivated leaders who want to impact children's daily lives positively through quality nutrition and excellent food service management across schools.
