Job Description

Fresa's 9th & Lamar is a distinguished restaurant located in Austin, Texas, celebrated for its modern take on classic Mexican cuisine, particularly its wood-grilled chicken al carbon. This establishment prides itself on delivering authentic flavors with a contemporary twist, featuring homemade tortillas, traditional sides, and a vibrant array of salsas that cater to both locals and visitors seeking quality quick-service dining. With a commitment to excellence, Fresa's has carved a niche as a premium quick-service restaurant that not only serves in-house guests but also offers full-service catering for various events, underscoring its versatility and dedication to customer satisfaction.

The role available at Fresa's 9th & Lamar is a unique blend of culinary leadership and daily restaurant management. This position is ideal for an experienced kitchen leader who thrives in a high-volume, fast-paced setting and is passionate about both cooking and team leadership. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all culinary operations, ensuring food quality and safety standards are met, and managing day-to-day activities within the restaurant. This includes supervising food preparation, handling inventory and ordering, and maintaining stringent quality control measures.

Beyond the kitchen, this role requires a hands-on approach to leadership across the entire restaurant, including mentoring and training both back-of-house and front-of-house staff. By fostering a harmonious work environment, the kitchen leader will play a pivotal role in enhancing team performance and delivering exceptional guest experiences. Collaboration with the General Manager is also a key component, assisting with daily operations and interacting directly with guests to uphold Fresa's reputation for excellent service.

Ideal candidates will bring at least one year of leadership experience in a kitchen or front-of-house environment, coupled with a strong foundation in cooking techniques and production management. Certifications such as Food Manager's and TABC are mandatory, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Additional experience in purchasing, labor control, and catering, as well as bilingual skills in English and Spanish, are highly valued, reflecting the diverse and dynamic nature of Fresa's clientele and staff.

This position offers a competitive annual salary ranging from $50,000 to $55,000 along with valuable benefits including paid time off and significant contributions toward health insurance premiums. If you are a motivated, organized, and detail-oriented leader with a passion for culinary excellence and guest service, this opportunity at Fresa's 9th & Lamar represents an exciting career move. Join a team that values innovation, quality, and community engagement in the heart of Austin's vibrant food scene.
