Job Description

Citizen All Day is a vibrant and community-focused all-day cafe brand that has established itself as a beloved destination for locals seeking delicious food, inviting ambiance, and meaningful social connections. With roots in Melbourne, Australia - widely known as the cafe capital of the world - Citizen brings authentic Australian cafe culture to cities like New York City, Houston, and Austin, with plans for further expansion across the United States. Founded in 2016 by Justin Giuffrida and Andrew Geisel in Chelsea, Citizen was born from a vision of creating spaces where communities truly connect beyond just serving exceptional food. This approach has translated into a rapidly growing restaurant brand recognized in prestigious publications such as Forbes and Vogue, reflecting its reputation for quality, consistency, and a commitment to people.

Citizen is more than just a place to enjoy a perfectly crafted smashed avocado toast; it's a neighborhood staple fostering genuine connections among guests and employees alike. The company has cultivated a workplace culture that prioritizes team ownership, high standards, leadership development, and balanced growth opportunities. Employees at Citizen benefit from a structured environment that supports their personal and professional growth while maintaining a focus on delivering consistent, quality dining experiences to every guest.

The Kitchen Manager role at Citizen All Day is an essential, hands-on leadership position responsible for ensuring smooth daily culinary operations in the back of the house (BOH). This role leads the kitchen team in executing menus to the highest food quality, safety, and compliance standards set by the Department of Health. The Kitchen Manager is accountable for coaching and training BOH team members to uphold these standards, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Additionally, this role involves managing kitchen facilities, equipment, and organizational systems to optimize productivity and maintain a safe, sanitary work environment.

This position offers an attractive compensation package with hourly wages ranging from $21 to $26 and an annual salary between $61,000 and $68,000, depending on experience. Citizen values candidates with at least two years of experience as a Kitchen Manager or BOH Manager within full-service restaurants. The company supports career growth, offering learning and development prospects within a rapidly expanding brand. Employees enjoy consistent schedules, consecutive days off, health insurance options, and other valuable benefits. Citizen’s emphasis on team development and operational excellence makes this an exciting opportunity for culinary leaders seeking to grow in a thriving and supportive environment.
