The Monarch San Antonio is a premier boutique hotel project under Zachry Hotels, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton. This 200-room, 17-story hotel is located in the vibrant Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio and is expected to open its doors in early 2026. Inspired by the Monarch butterfly, the hotel will offer luxury amenities including a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five distinct food and beverage outlets, featuring a rooftop restaurant and bar. Situated steps from iconic attractions such as the River Walk and The Alamo, The Monarch San Antonio is designed to be more than just a place to stay – it aims to be a place where guests feel they belong, connect, and find inspiration. The hotel mixes tradition with modern elegance, reflecting the unique spirit of San Antonio in every detail and interaction.

The Kitchen Manager role at The Monarch San Antonio is a pivotal leadership position responsible for overseeing all stewarding and cleanliness operations across the hotel's kitchens, banquet areas, and staff dining facilities. This role is essential for maintaining the highest hygiene and sanitation standards expected in a luxury hotel setting. Leading the stewarding team, the Kitchen Manager manages equipment maintenance, inventory control, and ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations. Collaboration with culinary, banquet, and food and beverage departments is key to providing seamless service and supporting smooth operations during high-volume events. This role demands strong leadership, organizational skills, and a deep commitment to operational excellence and guest satisfaction. The ideal candidate will have experience in stewarding or kitchen operations within a luxury or full-service hotel environment and demonstrate the ability to lead, motivate, and train staff while maintaining a safe and clean work environment. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Food safe serve or Texas food handlers certification required
  • Experience in stewarding or kitchen operations within a hotel or high-volume hospitality environment preferred
  • Experience in luxury or full-service hotel operations preferred
  • Supervisory or leadership experience within food and beverage or stewarding operations preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work flexible schedules including mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong leadership and coaching ability
  • Knowledge of sanitation standards and food safety practices
  • Commitment to safety, cleanliness, and operational excellence

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Lead, supervise, and train the stewarding team to ensure efficient operations across kitchens, banquet areas, and employee dining facilities
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in all stewarding and kitchen-related spaces
  • Oversee dishwashing operations, storage areas, and proper handling of kitchen equipment and utensils
  • Monitor and maintain kitchen equipment, dishware, and utensils to ensure proper functionality and longevity
  • Manage inventory of cleaning supplies, chemicals, and stewarding equipment, including stock rotation and ordering
  • Oversee waste management processes and ensure proper disposal procedures are followed
  • Implement and enforce sanitation, food safety, and hygiene standards in compliance with hotel policies and local regulations
  • Conduct routine inspections to ensure compliance with SOPs and luxury service standards
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all team members follow safety protocols
  • Partner with culinary, banquet, and food and beverage teams to support seamless service, especially during high-volume events
  • Assist in budget management, cost control, and resource optimization within the stewarding department
  • Foster a positive, team-oriented environment that promotes accountability and professionalism
  • Coach and motivate team members to deliver consistent, high-quality support
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support kitchen and hotel operations
  • Maintain reliable and consistent attendance as an essential function of the role
