Job Description

The Rescue Mission Alliance (RMA) is a well-established Christian non-profit organization dedicated to serving the less fortunate populations in Southern California since 1972. With a mission grounded in faith and compassion, RMA provides emergency services along with long-term rehabilitation programs aimed at helping individuals rebuild their lives. The organization actively partners with local churches to address both the physical and spiritual needs of the people they serve, fostering a supportive community environment that promotes healing and transformation. RMA's comprehensive approach includes various outreach efforts, shelter services, and vocational training programs designed to empower participants toward self-sufficiency and spiritual growth.

The position of Kitchen Manager at Rescue Mission Alliance Ventura County is a critical leadership role responsible for managing extensive kitchen operations and culinary training activities. This role oversees a high-volume kitchen that prepares approximately 20,000 meals every month, serving residential program participants, outreach meal guests, and local community members through sack lunches and grocery distributions. The Kitchen Manager ensures that all meals are prepared efficiently, safely, and in compliance with health regulations while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization within the kitchen.

In addition to managing daily kitchen functions, the Kitchen Manager leads the organization's Culinary Vocational Training Program, which provides hands-on culinary training to Life Recovery Program participants. This unique program offers participants practical experience in food preparation, cooking techniques, menu planning, food ordering, budgeting, and food service skills necessary for employment in the food service industry. The Kitchen Manager serves as a mentor and teacher, supporting participants’ professional development and modeling a strong work ethic within the nurturing Christian recovery environment that RMA fosters. This position reports to the Director and is located in Oxnard, California, offering compensation commensurate with skills and experience. The role requires leadership, culinary expertise, and a heart for service, making it ideal for someone passionate about both culinary arts and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those striving for recovery and stability.
