Job Description
Our hiring institution is a reputable school nutrition service provider dedicated to delivering healthy, high-quality meals to students across various educational facilities. We prioritize food safety, nutritional standards, and efficiency in our operations, ensuring that each child receives nutritious meals in a clean and welcoming environment. As part of a broader commitment to nurturing the wellbeing and academic success of children, our organization invests heavily in training, compliance, and continuous improvement in school meal programs. We are proud to offer employment opportunities that make a positive impact within the community, focusing on roles that combine leadership, food service expertise, and operational management.
The role of Kitchen Manager at our school nutrition service is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily food service operations at an assigned school site. This full-time role involves managing everything from food preparation and kitchen staff supervision to compliance with federal, state, and company policies. The Kitchen Manager works hands-on and leads a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment, ensuring that all meals meet quality, safety, and portion requirements. The ideal candidate should have a passion for food, strong organizational skills, and prior leadership experience.
Beyond managing food production, the Kitchen Manager plays a central role in staff training on recipes, equipment safety, and sanitation practices. Maintaining inventory control and ensuring that supplies are ordered, received, and stored correctly are essential to smooth kitchen operations. The position also requires diligent record-keeping, from preparing daily paperwork to maintaining temperature logs and cleaning schedules. Compliance with food safety standards such as HACCP, ServSafe, and health department regulations is mandatory.
This leadership role includes managing labor costs by aligning schedules with staffing needs and budgetary constraints, administering fair performance evaluations, and acting as on-site leader to guarantee efficient and safe kitchen operations. The Kitchen Manager maintains the cleanliness and functionality of kitchen equipment, coordinates cash handling procedures, and completes reporting duties punctually. The ability to oversee multiple responsibilities simultaneously while supporting the school’s food service program makes this role both challenging and rewarding.
Working as a Kitchen Manager provides an opportunity to directly influence school nutrition and improve the quality of student meals. Candidates who enjoy working with children, have excellent communication skills, and are comfortable in a school environment will find this position fulfilling. Our organization supports career growth and provides ongoing training and support to help Kitchen Managers excel. This role requires standing for full shifts, occasional heavy lifting, and maneuvering within a dynamic kitchen atmosphere. We are committed to Equal Employment Opportunities and welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds.
