The Kitchen Manager role at Parry's Pizzeria & Taphouse is a crucial leadership position responsible for overseeing all Back of House (BOH) operations. The Kitchen Manager's responsibilities include maintaining food quality, controlling costs, managing labor, and fostering a positive and accountable team culture. Working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, the Kitchen Manager must be an effective leader capable of coaching team members, validating execution, and driving operational excellence from the beginning to the end of each shift.
In addition to overseeing daily kitchen operations, the Kitchen Manager at Parry's plays an essential role in inventory management, scheduling, and compliance with safety and sanitation standards. They are expected to lead with a systems-focused approach, ensuring that all food served is recipe-right and prepared in alignment with company standards. This includes conducting line checks, taste tests, and managing proper food storage and waste control. The role also involves conducting pre-shift meetings, maintaining ticket times within company standards, and promoting a culture of positivity and accountability within the kitchen team.
Kitchen Managers at Parry's are also deeply involved in staff development, from hiring and onboarding to ongoing training and performance management. They work closely with Service Managers and Managing Partners to ensure smooth shift execution and a superior guest experience. Upholding Parry's standards for cleanliness, safety, sanitation, appearance, and professionalism is a daily expectation in this role. The Kitchen Manager acts as the leader in the kitchen, responsible for readiness before service, execution during peak volumes, and accountability throughout the shift.
This position requires a professional who can handle the physical demands of the kitchen environment, including standing for extended periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements
- 2+ years of restaurant management experience in a kitchen
- Proven ability to lead BOH operations in a high-volume environment
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Comfortable using scheduling and operational systems
- Proven ability to lead in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
- Clear communicator who stays calm and focused during peak periods

Job Qualifications
- 2+ years of restaurant management experience in a kitchen
- Proven ability to lead BOH operations in a high-volume environment
- Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and sanitation standards
- Comfortable using scheduling and operational systems (HotSchedules experience preferred)
- Proven ability to lead in a high-volume, fast-paced environment

Job Duties
- Teach and coach food quality standards to establish daily behaviors that support a .8 AVT food cost variance
- Validate recipe-right execution through tasting, labeling, temps, and line checks
- Complete weekly inventory and ordering with a strong understanding of Actual vs. Theoretical (AvT) performance
- Demonstrate the ability to achieve consistent labor results versus budget through effective schedule writing using HotSchedules
- Develop and implement systems that support sales building and execution including daily BOH pre-shift meetings, ticket times maintained within company standards, positive and accountable kitchen culture directionals
- Monitor and manage daily food prep, storage, and waste to protect quality and control costs
- Lead BOH opening, closing, and sanitation routines with consistency and urgency
- Play a key role in hiring, onboarding, training, and 100% staff validations for BOH team members
- Coach, develop, and performance-manage BOH team members to support growth and retention
- Partner with Service Managers and Managing Partners to support smooth shift execution and guest experience
- Uphold all company standards for cleanliness, safety, sanitation, appearance, and professionalism
