The role of Kitchen Manager at Urban Air Corpus Christi is pivotal in ensuring that the Urban Air Café operates smoothly and delivers exceptional service consistently. This position requires a hands-on leader who will manage kitchen operations and guide team members to work efficiently under fast-paced conditions while maintaining a friendly and supportive atmosphere. The Kitchen Manager spends a significant amount of their time actively involved in daily kitchen and café activities including cooking, preparing, and serving food, ensuring every guest experience is positive. This role demands a high level of organization and attention to detail, especially in inventory control, food preparation standards, storage, and maintaining cleanliness. The Kitchen Manager is responsible for training café staff on the full menu preparation and the front-of-house team on drinks and ready-to-eat food service, making sure every item meets the company’s high standards.
Beyond simply managing food production, the Kitchen Manager acts as a role model for punctuality, attendance, attitude, and hygiene for all café staff. They ensure operational standards are upheld at all times and that the café environment is well-organized and maintained to promote safety and efficiency. The position requires working scheduled shifts, with flexibility to stay beyond hours when required by business demands. Additionally, the Kitchen Manager addresses guest concerns professionally, participates in regular staff meetings and training, and executes additional tasks assigned by the General Manager. Job Qualifications
- Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years' previous F&B experience (quick Service and/or restaurant experience)
- 1-3 years' management experience in the hospitality field preferred
- Must have a current ServSafe or similar Food Handling Certification, or be willing to attain within the first 30 days of employment
Job Duties
- Support the proper execution of all processes, systems and standards
- Ensure all deliveries are received correctly and logged
- Maintain effective inventory control, storage, and rotation to minimize wastage
- Manage the Café Team, ensuring they always work to the expected standards
- Adhere to scheduled shifts and is willing to stay beyond when business or circumstances dictate
- Train Café staff in preparing the full menu and the front of house staff in preparing drinks and ready-to-eat foods to the consistently high standard required
- Set a high standard and good example for Café staff regarding punctuality, attendance and attitude and ensure these standards are always maintained
- Set a high standard and good example for Café staff regarding cleanliness and hygiene, including a regular deep clean schedule
- Maintain a clear, well-organized and easy-to-access Café
- Handle guest concerns regarding the Café
- Participate in regular staff meetings and training as and when required
- Other duties as tasked by General Manager
