The position of Kitchen Manager at Jalapeno Tree is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all back-of-house (BOH) operations. This role focuses heavily on ensuring the highest standards for food preparation, sanitation, inventory management, and labor scheduling while maintaining compliance with food safety regulations. A key responsibility of the Kitchen Manager is to uphold the restaurant's promise of delivering Crazy Good Mexican Food by leading an efficient, clean, and organized kitchen team. They are also entrusted with the development and training of staff, ensuring that each member is equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide excellent service and uphold food safety protocols.
In this role, the Kitchen Manager manages BOH scheduling, food and supply ordering, inventory control, and cost of goods sold while monitoring and optimizing operational expenses to meet profitability targets. They work closely with the General Manager, implementing new menus, recipes, and promotions to keep the dining experience fresh and exciting. Prior to assuming responsibilities at their assigned location, all Kitchen Managers complete specialized training at the Jalapeno Tree headquarters in Tyler, TX, which equips them with essential knowledge about company standards, systems, and expectations.
The ideal candidate is a dependable, energetic leader with strong communication, coaching, and organizational skills. They are proficient with POS systems such as Aloha and familiar with restaurant operational tools like Microsoft Office and Compeat. Critical to success in this role is the ability to manage inventory accurately, enforce food safety standards, and control labor costs effectively. Physical stamina is also required as the position demands standing for extended periods, frequent movement, and handling of tasks under varying temperature conditions.

Job Requirements
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Kitchen Manager or successful Assistant Manager in a full-service restaurant
- high school diploma or GED preferred
- must be at least 18 years old
- valid driver’s license
- knowledge of food and beverage laws and health regulations
- strong leadership and communication skills
- proven ability to manage inventory and food safety
- proficiency in POS and restaurant systems
- ability to stand for prolonged periods and lift up to 50 lbs
- availability to work 50-55 hours per week including holidays and weekends
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Kitchen Manager or successful Assistant Manager in a full-service restaurant

- must be at least 18 years old
- valid driver’s license
- knowledge of food and beverage laws and health regulations
