The Kitchen Line Cook is a vital position within this vibrant organization, primarily engaged in supporting the culinary operations across various venue locations including the Restaurant, Foundation Room, and Music Hall club. This role is designed for motivated individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments and have a passion for food preparation and cooking. The position is part-time with flexible scheduling that includes day and night shifts as well as weekends, offering hourly wages. Candidates must be adept at following recipes accurately, managing food preparation logistics, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and food safety in the kitchen.
Key responsibilities involve prepping and cooking menu items in line with provided recipes, ensuring timely and efficient service during busy events. The Kitchen Line Cook must keep the workspace clean and organized, adhere to health and sanitation guidelines, and support the team by assisting others as needed. The role also includes setup and cleanup duties at the start and end of shifts. This position occasionally requires participation in special events within the venue, demanding flexibility and a team-oriented mindset. Ideal candidates will showcase attention to detail, positive attitude, punctuality, and the capacity to handle a high-energy work setting while maintaining professionalism and a well-groomed appearance. Experience with heavy-duty kitchen equipment and knife skills are essential, and a knowledge of high-volume kitchen operations is highly valued.

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Maintain line of sight/keep floor clean and free of food items, trash, or other obstacles by circulating through work area during shift
- Follow House of Blues safety, health, and sanitation standards
- Assist other employees as needed
- Follow opening and closing procedures, checking out with manager on duty
- Adhere to all HOB policies and procedures
- Occasionally work special events scheduled within the venue
- Prepare kitchen equipment and set up station for shift
- Organize and prioritize preparation of food items
- Coordinate food preparation with other kitchen staff
- Ensure portions are correct size and weight
- Follow all recipe specifications to prepare food items to standard recipes
- Inspect food for spoilage and ensure proper rotation of all food items
- Ensure that kitchen area, including grill, oven, stoves, floors, etc., remain clean and free of hazards during shift
- Maintain kitchen equipment and walk-in cooler
