The position of Line Cook at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center plays a vital role within the Food & Beverage Department. This role is designed for a detail-oriented, responsible individual dedicated to preparing high-quality food in line with established recipes and safety standards under the guidance of the Executive and Sous Chefs. As a Line Cook, you will be responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of food items, ensuring that every dish meets the center's quality expectations. Duties involve following standardized recipes meticulously, managing food storage and sanitation practices, and maintaining a clean, organized workstation. The role requires familiarity with food production sheets and the flexibility to adapt to varying menu demands typical in a convention center setting. Additionally, the Line Cook must adhere to strict safety protocols, utilize kitchen machinery and knives properly, and execute quality control by inspecting all food prepared before it leaves the station. The position is physically demanding, requiring the ability to stand for extended periods and handle lifting, carrying, and other physical activities associated with kitchen work. Reliability, teamwork, and strong communication skills are essential, as this role operates within a collaborative environment that prioritizes both efficiency and the highest culinary standards. Job Requirements

  • Minimum high school education or equivalent preferred
  • one year experience in a kitchen environment
  • ability to read and follow recipes
  • knowledge of food sanitation standards
  • ability to work irregular hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • strong communication and teamwork skills
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and lift/carry up to 100 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • at least one year experience in a restaurant/kitchen environment

  • good working knowledge of hot food preparation

Job Duties

  • Work as scheduled and in proper uniform/nametag
  • responsible for proper preparation, cooking, and plate-up of food in a timely and organized manner as outlined on prep list in accordance with food safety and sanitation procedures
  • verify information provided on production sheet in your workstation and clarify with supervisor as needed
  • prepare food in proper amounts, containers, with proper food, and at designated times
  • prepare and store food according to established sanitation and safety procedures
  • inspect every item of food leaving your area to ensure quality and report issues to supervisor
  • gather and move supplies necessary for food preparation and return unused items
  • follow proper procedures for use of knives and kitchen equipment
  • clean all food preparation and related equipment
  • perform inventory of items as directed by Chefs
  • organize cooler, ensure proper storage, and reduce waste
  • perform other duties as designated by management
