The role of a Food Preparation and Cook at BGC is essential to the company’s commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. This position involves preparing and cooking food by following basic to complex recipes, ensuring that every dish meets the exact specifications set by the chef. The role requires maintaining proper stock levels and monitoring product quality through careful attention to dates, appearance, and proper storage conditions. In addition to cooking, the position involves assisting kitchen personnel with various tasks such as slicing, weighing, packaging, labeling, and pricing products, as well as displaying them attractively to promote sales.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Food Handler certification required
  • Partners must be 21 years or older to drive for company business
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Attendance at work is required
  • Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment
  • Must be attentive to potential hazards and remedy or report them
  • Ability to communicate effectively with partners and customers

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 18 years of age
  • Food Handler certification required
  • Typically involves on-the-job training
  • Ability to safely operate hazardous tools and equipment such as cheese/meat slicer and commercial oven
  • Ability to read and operate digital equipment, meters, dials, and calibrated scales
  • Basic mathematical skills for following recipes
  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal form
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work well with fellow partners and promote a team environment
  • Attentive to potential hazards and able to remedy or report them

Job Duties

  • Follow established recipes to exact specification of the chef
  • Ensure prepared foods are consistent in quality, taste, and presentation
  • Assist kitchen personnel with cooking, slicing, weighing, packaging, labeling, pricing, and maintaining product displays
  • Adhere to quality control and food safety standards by stocking and rotating prepared foods
  • Stack pallets and sort product into correct locations according to company efficiency standards and expectations
  • Maintain clean, safe and sanitary working and shopping environment by adhering to company safety procedures
  • Provide friendly and customer-service-oriented attitude by greeting customers, answering questions and taking special order requests by phone and in person
  • Promote product sales through use of suggestive selling initiatives
