The position of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle offers an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and deliciousness of food served to customers. Kitchen Leaders receive hands-on training in food preparation, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, following precise kitchen procedures to maintain food quality and safety standards. This role requires a commitment to keeping the kitchen clean, organized, and well-stocked, as well as managing equipment maintenance to avoid disruptions during service. The Kitchen Leader is also a pivotal team player who fosters a positive dynamic between back-of-house and front-of-house crews, serving as a role model and mentor to develop Crew members into future leaders within the kitchen environment. Collaboration, effective communication, and dedication to excellent customer service are core to this role.

This is a fast-paced and physically active position, demanding multitasking skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Kitchen Leader oversees inventory levels, monitors and reduces food waste, and ensures compliance with safety regulations and cleaning protocols through tasks such as completing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and managing inventory rotation (FIFO). Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house crew and front of house crew
  • Developing crew members to be future kitchen leaders
  • Communicating with crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair and making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • Ensuring that the kitchen and all crew members meet necessary guidelines to prevent injuries or accidents
  • Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and managing Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
