Chipotle is currently seeking a dedicated Kitchen Leader to join their dynamic team. The Kitchen Leader role is instrumental in ensuring that Chipotle’s high standards for food quality and kitchen operations are consistently met. This position offers comprehensive hands-on experience in food preparation, including grilling meats and sautéing vegetables, while also emphasizing team leadership and kitchen management. The candidate will be responsible for training and mentoring crew members, cultivating future Kitchen Leaders, and maintaining a clean and organized kitchen environment. The role demands active participation on the floor, where Kitchen Leaders work alongside their teammates to meet station goals and uphold Chipotle’s exceptional customer service standards.

The Kitchen Leader plays a crucial role in maintaining food safety, monitoring inventory and food waste, managing kitchen equipment upkeep, and ensuring sanitary conditions. They serve as role models who help foster a cohesive team dynamic between the back-of-house and front-of-house crew members. Moreover, this position provides growth opportunities, with 80 percent of managers having started as crew members, reinforcing Chipotle’s commitment to internal advancement. Job Requirements

  • Have a high school diploma
  • Have restaurant experience
  • Be able to understand and articulate Chipotle's Food With Integrity philosophy
  • Possess knowledge of the primary language(s) spoken at the work location
  • Be physically able to work on your feet for extended periods
  • Have strong team leadership and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order, and following kitchen procedures
  • Monitoring food waste and inventory levels, and resolving food quality issues
  • Supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house Crew and front of house Crew
  • Developing Crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • Communicating with Crew members and customers effectively in order to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • Ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair
  • making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • Ensuring that the kitchen itself and all Crew members meet the necessary guidelines to ensure there are no injuries or accidents
  • Filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
