Job Description
Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. (NYSE: CMG) is a pioneering fast-casual restaurant chain dedicated to cultivating a better world by serving responsibly sourced, classically cooked, real food with wholesome ingredients free from artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives. Operating restaurants across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany, Chipotle stands out as the only restaurant company of its size that owns and operates all its locations in North America and Europe. Renowned for its commitment to innovation in the food industry, Chipotle embraces sustainable business practices, digital and technological advancements, and a mission to make better food accessible to everyone. As a people-first company rooted in core values, Chipotle fosters a diverse and inclusive culture that champions equity and inclusion at all levels of employment.
The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about food preparation and leadership within a fast-paced restaurant environment. This position focuses on ensuring the quality and safety of Chipotle’s food, overseeing kitchen operations, and inspiring crew members to develop and succeed. As a Kitchen Leader, you will learn vital culinary skills such as grilling meats, sautéing vegetables, and preparing delicious meals that align with Chipotle’s Food With Integrity philosophy. You will be responsible not only for preparing food to order with precision but also for maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked kitchen. A crucial aspect of this role is to train and mentor crew members, helping them grow into future Kitchen Leaders and fostering team dynamics between back-of-house and front-of-house staff.
Your day-to-day activities will involve monitoring inventory and food waste, resolving any food quality concerns, and ensuring all kitchen equipment is properly maintained and repaired as necessary. Safety is paramount, so you will play a key role in ensuring the kitchen environment and crew members adhere to guidelines preventing accidents and injuries. Additionally, responsibilities such as completing Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and managing Inventory Rotation (FIFO) are essential components of the position.
Chipotle offers a competitive compensation package and benefits including tuition assistance for select degrees, free meals while on duty, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, and digital tips. The company values career advancement opportunities, with an impressive 80 percent of managers having started as crew members. By joining Chipotle as a Kitchen Leader, you become part of a vibrant community dedicated to changing the face of fast food through quality, integrity, and teamwork while making a meaningful impact on the future of food and farming.
