The role of Kitchen Leader at Chipotle is an essential position focused on maintaining food quality, safety, and operational excellence within the kitchen environment. Kitchen Leaders are responsible for preparing food, grilling meats, sautéing vegetables, and ensuring that every dish meets Chipotle’s high standards of flavor and presentation. This role plays a critical part in supporting the restaurant’s mission by directly overseeing food preparation processes and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen. Beyond culinary duties, Kitchen Leaders manage inventory levels, monitor equipment condition, and uphold health and safety guidelines to prevent any accidents or injuries. This position also involves training and mentoring crew members, preparing them to become future Kitchen Leaders, and fostering strong teamwork between back-of-house and front-of-house staff to deliver an exceptional customer experience. Kitchen Leaders are on their feet during their shifts, multitasking and proactively addressing any operational needs that arise. Chipotle offers an attractive compensation package for this role, ranging from $17.40 to $19.35 per hour, along with eligibility for digital tips and a comprehensive benefits program. The company provides benefits such as tuition assistance with 100% coverage for select degrees or up to $5,250 per year, free food, medical, dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, holiday closures, competitive compensation, and significant opportunities for advancement, with 80% of managers having started as crew members. Job Duties

  • Ensuring food quality by cooking and prepping food to order and following kitchen procedures
  • monitoring food waste and inventory levels and resolving food quality issues
  • supporting a strong team dynamic between back of house crew and front of house crew
  • developing crew members to be future Kitchen Leaders
  • communicating with crew members and customers effectively to ensure great customer service and throughput
  • ensuring the kitchen is properly cleaned and sanitized
  • monitoring kitchen equipment and ensuring it is kept in good repair and making sure malfunctioning equipment is repaired as quickly as possible
  • ensuring that the kitchen and all crew members meet necessary guidelines to avoid injuries or accidents
  • filling out Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Inventory Rotation (FIFO)
