Job Requirements

  • One year of related experience in the food service industry
  • Must obtain a current Food Handlers Permit prior to the start of employment
  • Must be able to receive ServSafe certificate after 90 days of hire
  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, crouch, and be on feet for 3-5 hours at a time
  • Willingness to work in a warm kitchen environment
  • Ability to use a step ladder
  • Temporary part-time employment with average hours not exceeding 29 per week

Job Qualifications

  • One year of related experience in the food service industry
  • Possession of a current Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain one prior to employment
  • Ability to obtain ServSafe certificate within 90 days of hire
  • Completion of a criminal background check
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
  • Experience in supervising kitchen staff or volunteers

Job Duties

  • Train kitchen helpers and volunteers on preparation work and food plating techniques
  • Oversee the daily work tasks of kitchen helpers and volunteers
  • Maintain all required health department certificates and licenses
  • Coordinate food orders with center staff
  • Manage food preparation, cooking, proper food temperatures, and food presentation following portion size guidelines and menu for service
  • Prepare orders for food supplies and kitchen equipment
  • Store food products in compliance with safety practices
  • Complete and update daily, weekly, and monthly data forms
  • Keep the kitchen and equipment clean and presentable and ensure all cleaning schedules are followed as directed
  • Maintain the highest level of safety and cleanliness in the front and back kitchen areas
  • Consistently follow all food safety procedures including temperature logs, equipment cleaning, storage guidelines, glove use, and hand washing
  • Provide good customer service to participants
  • Respond to participant complaints in a timely manner using good judgement
