Job Requirements
- One year of related experience in the food service industry
- Must obtain a current Food Handlers Permit prior to the start of employment
- Must be able to receive ServSafe certificate after 90 days of hire
- Successful completion of a criminal background check
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to bend, stoop, twist, crouch, and be on feet for 3-5 hours at a time
- Willingness to work in a warm kitchen environment
- Ability to use a step ladder
- Temporary part-time employment with average hours not exceeding 29 per week
Job Qualifications
- One year of related experience in the food service industry
- Possession of a current Food Handlers Permit or ability to obtain one prior to employment
- Ability to obtain ServSafe certificate within 90 days of hire
- Completion of a criminal background check
- Knowledge of food safety standards and procedures
- Experience in supervising kitchen staff or volunteers
Job Duties
- Train kitchen helpers and volunteers on preparation work and food plating techniques
- Oversee the daily work tasks of kitchen helpers and volunteers
- Maintain all required health department certificates and licenses
- Coordinate food orders with center staff
- Manage food preparation, cooking, proper food temperatures, and food presentation following portion size guidelines and menu for service
- Prepare orders for food supplies and kitchen equipment
- Store food products in compliance with safety practices
- Complete and update daily, weekly, and monthly data forms
- Keep the kitchen and equipment clean and presentable and ensure all cleaning schedules are followed as directed
- Maintain the highest level of safety and cleanliness in the front and back kitchen areas
- Consistently follow all food safety procedures including temperature logs, equipment cleaning, storage guidelines, glove use, and hand washing
- Provide good customer service to participants
- Respond to participant complaints in a timely manner using good judgement
