The Kitchen Lead role at Buffalo Wild Wings is a key management position within the Heart of House team. The Kitchen Lead acts as the primary point of contact for the kitchen staff, including stations such as chip, grill, shake, southwest, and expo, ensuring each area meets the company’s high standards for food quality, cleanliness, and timely preparation. The Kitchen Lead is responsible for various critical tasks, such as retrieving prep lists from the Manager on Duty (MOD), delegating tasks to kitchen team members, maintaining proper inventory and food rotation practices, and tracking waste according to company standards. This position also involves regularly assessing the quality of incoming food supplies, overseeing equipment maintenance, and promoting a positive and collaborative work environment. In addition to supervising, the Kitchen Lead often participates directly in food preparation across multiple stations, including managing fryer quality, portioning and preparing grilled items, ensuring sauce stations are continuously stocked and clean, and maintaining cold rail for items like wraps and salads. They also serve as the communication link between kitchen and front-of-house teams to guarantee smooth operation and timely service.
This role has physical demands that include sitting, standing, bending, lifting up to 30 pounds, and moving intermittently throughout the shift, with accommodations available as needed. Job Requirements
- Ability to follow specific service time and guidelines
- Ability to maintain a high degree of pace and intensity for extended periods
- Must be reliable and dependable adhering to schedule and covering shifts
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 30 pounds, and move intermittently during shifts
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- At least 1 year experience in a similar lead position
- Sound knowledge of food health and safety regulations
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Exceptional organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
Job Duties
- Retrieve prep list from Manager on Duty and delegate prep items
- Assist in preparing ingredients for daily operations
- Track all waste on Waste Sheet per company procedures
- Notify Manager on Duty of equipment issues or improper temperatures
- Supervise kitchen team ensuring proper completion of all stations
- Ensure cooking stations are adequately stocked and clean
- Maintain standard food rotation and assess quality of food supplies
- Assist in food waste control and inventory ordering and tracking
- Provide a positive work environment for Heart of House team
- Perform duties across chip, grill, shake, southwest, and expo stations
