We are currently seeking a full-time Kitchen Cook / Supervisor to join our dedicated team. This role is integral to our mission, combining hands-on food preparation with leadership duties to maintain smooth kitchen operations. The Kitchen Cook / Supervisor will ensure that all meals prepared adhere to established menus, dietary guidelines, and safety standards, serving appealing and properly portioned dishes on schedule. This position plays a critical role in accommodating special dietary needs and preferences to enhance resident satisfaction. In addition to meal preparation, the successful candidate will oversee kitchen cleanliness, organization, and equipment maintenance, strictly following all food safety and sanitation standards, including compliance with state and federal regulations such as ServSafe.

Leadership is a core component of this position, with responsibilities including guiding kitchen staff, supporting training initiatives, and fostering a positive, respectful work environment. Collaboration with other departments like nursing and activities is expected to ensure resident needs are met holistically. Candidates must demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, the ability to lead with professionalism and kindness, and physical capability to meet the demands of the job, such as lifting up to 40 pounds and standing for extended periods. ServSafe certification is required or must be obtained, with training support available.

This position offers full-time hours with the flexibility to work weekends and holidays, aligning with our daily meal service schedule at 8:30 am, 12:00 pm, and 5:00 pm. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous cooking experience preferred
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to work weekends and holidays
  • physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and stand for long periods
  • ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain
  • strong communication and leadership skills

Job Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a cook in healthcare, hospitality, or a similar setting preferred
  • knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and dietary requirements

Job Duties

  • Prepare meals according to established menus, recipes, and dietary guidelines
  • ensure all meals are appealing, properly portioned, and served on schedule
  • accommodate resident preferences and special dietary needs as appropriate
  • maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area throughout the shift
  • follow all food safety and sanitation standards, including proper storage, labeling, and temperature control
  • maintain compliance with state and federal regulations, including ServSafe requirements
  • ensure kitchen equipment is cleaned, sanitized, and used safely
  • monitor and document required kitchen logs (temperatures, cleaning records, etc.)
  • provide clear direction and support to kitchen staff during assigned shifts
  • assist with training new team members on procedures, safety, and resident-centered service
  • collaborate with nursing, activities, and leadership teams to support resident needs
  • promote a positive, respectful, and team-oriented work environment
