Job Requirements

  • Previous supervisory kitchen experience
  • Must have and maintain a current ServSafe Certification
  • Ability to stand and walk for the duration of the shift with minimal breaks
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 plus lbs
  • Ability to work in fluctuating temperature environments
  • Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Ability to multitask and communicate effectively
  • Positive, friendly, and professional attitude
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple personality types
  • Self-motivation and ability to manage time and accomplish tasks with accuracy and efficiency
  • Ability to adapt and maintain a strong desire to learn
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen terminology

Job Duties

  • Supervise staff and provide corrective instruction where needed
  • Actively run the kitchen ensuring timely and quality food
  • Make and oversee staffing adjustments to fit daily business and labor targets
  • Monitor use of order forms, waste logs, temp sheets, and inventory forms and review them daily
  • Provide daily documentation and communication through the Wiki and email
  • Work closely with FOH managers to communicate about BOH status, food supply, quality concerns, operational changes, and building-wide needs
  • Actively monitor consumption and waste to maintain food cost targets and suggest par adjustments as needed
  • Assist in developing new menus and monthly specials through tastings, pricing, and staff training
  • Work with management to create and coordinate menu changes
  • Maintain communicated cuisine boundaries
  • Adhere to sanitation and safety standards
  • Work as a team with fellow managers, treating all humans with kindness and respect
