Job Description
Kidsplace Ministry is a vibrant and welcoming part of a larger community church that focuses on providing a safe, nurturing, and joyful environment for children and their families. This ministry is deeply committed to supporting the spiritual growth of children while providing parents peace of mind through a secure and effective check-in system. Situated in Lynden, the ministry operates with a dedicated team that partners in faith and service to offer meaningful experiences during church services and special children's events. The ministry values confidentiality, teamwork, and a God-pleasing attitude as essential components of its culture.
The role of the Kidsplace Ministry Hospitality & Check-In team member is a part-time hourly position requiring availability primarily on Sundays and participation in various special Children’s Ministry events. The position averages about 10 hours per month, and overtime is not permitted without prior authorization from the Human Resources department. The standard office hours for the ministry are from Monday through Thursday, 9 AM to 4 PM, housed in the Lynden office.
This key team member reports directly to the Director of Kidsplace and plays a vital role in creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for children and their families. The role involves greeting families, assisting with check-in procedures, registering new families, and printing name and security tags designed to ensure safety and streamlined operations. The Hospitality & Check-In team member acts as a liaison, helping new families acclimate to the ministry by providing necessary information and ongoing support.
Beyond greeting and administrative support, this position requires attentiveness to the safety and cleanliness of ministry areas including kitchen and restroom spaces. The team member must open, secure, and monitor these areas before, during, and after services, thus maintaining a positive environment for children’s activities. Additionally, the role includes using the childcare call system to notify parents as needed and ensuring children remain safe until pickup.
This person should not only be a compassionate caregiver but also a proactive problem solver capable of gracefully handling diverse personality types and resolving conflicts in a manner aligned with Christian values and principles. Effective communication skills, including phone conversations and occasional use of online platforms, are essential. The role also demands proficiency in basic data entry, attendance tracking, and report generation using ministry database systems.
The ideal candidate demonstrates a deep, personal, and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, actively attends church, and participates in Bible study and prayer. A positive attitude, flexibility to adapt to new situations, a willingness to receive feedback with patience, and the ability to propose improvements to existing systems will help this team member thrive within the ministry.
Overall, this position is perfect for individuals looking to serve their community in a meaningful way while cultivating their faith and interpersonal skills. It is a chance to contribute to an important ministry dedicated to nurturing the next generation in a respectful, joyful, and secure environment.
