Job Description
Kentwood Young Life is a dedicated branch of the larger Young Life organization, a well-established Christian ministry committed to evangelism and discipleship. Young Life operates with the conviction that each employee and volunteer serves as a minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, embodying values that align closely with the organization's Christian mission. Kentwood Young Life specifically focuses on supporting teen mothers and their children in the Kentwood and Greater Grand Rapids area, providing them with meaningful leadership, spiritual guidance, and practical resources tailored to their unique needs. This ministry is an integral part of Young Life’s broader commitment to nurturing the faith and growth of young individuals by fostering strong community ties, spiritual development, and service opportunities.
The currently open role is for a YoungLives Co-Coordinator who will work alongside a seasoned coordinator to lead and expand the ministry to teen moms. This position requires a compassionate, dedicated individual who embraces Young Life's Statement of Faith, is committed to personal spiritual growth, and actively participates in church life. The Co-Coordinator will be responsible for a wide range of duties including spiritual development, leadership and volunteer building, fundraising, direct ministry activities such as contact work and club leadership, and administrative support. This role offers the opportunity to influence and inspire young women facing difficult circumstances by providing ministry that supports both their spiritual and practical needs. The position expects the co-coordinator to be a skilled communicator and relationship builder, someone who can effectively lead teams, engage with community organizations like schools and pregnancy centers, and foster a welcoming, faith-based environment.
The role is ideal for individuals who possess strong relational skills, a heart for ministry in urban or community settings, and a passion for serving teen mothers through Christian outreach. It involves collaboration with other Young Life staff and volunteers, requiring a balance of spiritual leadership and administrative competency. Training and educational opportunities will support personal and professional growth, including ongoing Young Life core training, regional trainings, and participation in mission-wide staff conferences. The ideal candidate is goal-oriented, self-motivated, and ready to fulfill both short-term projects and long-range strategic plans to ensure the ministry’s continued success and growth.
