Job Description

Four Seasons Hotel and Residences at The Surf Club is a prestigious oceanfront property ideally located within an iconic social club setting in the Miami Beaches, close to Sunny Isles. The Surf Club first opened on New Year's Eve 1930 and has since become a historic landmark that blends the charm of the past with modern luxury and a vision for the future. As part of the renowned Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, this establishment offers world-class amenities including celebrated dining experiences, a luxurious spa, and exceptional service that uphold the brand's high standards and commitment to guest satisfaction. The ambiance here reflects a fusion of history and elegance, making it a unique destination for travelers and locals alike looking for an unparalleled hospitality experience.

The role of Junior Sommelier at Four Seasons Hotel and Residences at The Surf Club is a vital position within the Food and Beverage team. This position requires a highly motivated individual who will be responsible for creating and maintaining wine lists, ordering wines, and managing the wine stock through proper rotation and inventory control. The Junior Sommelier will excel in pairing wines with various foods, tailoring recommendations to guest preferences, and enhancing the dining experience through expert knowledge and attentive service. This role also includes assisting with overall food and beverage service duties such as taking and delivering orders efficiently and ensuring that all guest interactions are handled professionally and courteously. Compliance with all Four Seasons’ policies and procedures is mandatory to maintain operational excellence.

Additional responsibilities encompass supporting the beverage program through accurate updates to wine lists and point-of-sale system entries, as well as training staff across all outlets on the beverage offerings. The Junior Sommelier may also act as a manager on duty when needed, overseeing shifts, completing opening and closing tasks, and ensuring smooth daily operations. Managing the wine cellar effectively, including receiving, storing, inventorying, and ordering wines and other beverage items, is essential to optimize beverage cost controls and contribute to the profitability of the Food and Beverage operations. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays, to maintain continuous service coverage. Previous restaurant management or sommelier experience ranging from one to three years is essential, alongside a positive and proactive attitude and strong teamwork skills. Fluency in English is required, with proficiency in additional languages considered a plus. Knowledge and experience with Italian cuisine and wines is highly favored, and a minimum certification of Sommelier Level 1 is preferred.

Four Seasons Hotel and Residences at The Surf Club offers a competitive salary and benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) retirement plan, paid time off, holiday pay, complimentary parking, and employee meals. Employees have access to comprehensive training and development programs, inclusive and diverse engagement events, and discounts and travel programs across the Four Seasons portfolio. This position promises a stimulating work environment that encourages professional growth and fosters a culture of excellence, diversity, and inclusion.
