Job Description
The Puyenpa family of companies represents a consortium of multiple SBA Certified Native American Tribal 8(a) and multi-certified organizations dedicated to delivering superior Information Technology, Management Consulting, and General Construction solutions to both the Federal Government as well as the Commercial Sector. This company combines a rich heritage with professional expertise, aiming for excellence in service delivery and client satisfaction across complex, multi-faceted government programs and commercial projects. As a forward-thinking organization, Puyenpa holds a notable position in the government contracting space, leveraging its certifications and tribal status to play a pivotal role in federal and commercial initiatives.
This opportunity is for a Junior Server Administrator to join the Puyenpa team. The position is full-time and will be based onsite at a government facility located in Washington, DC, with some situational telework possibilities contingent on coordination with the Program Manager and Contracting Officer Representative (COR). Given the nature of the work, a Public Trust background investigation is mandatory. As part of the team supporting the Team Awareness Kit Interagency program, the Junior Server Administrator will be entrusted with a variety of critical responsibilities that safeguard the functionality, security, and efficacy of the program’s server infrastructure.
The Junior Server Administrator plays a vital role in maintaining server installation and operating system updates to ensure systems remain current and operational. The role involves continuous management and sustainability of platform server modifications, updates, patches, and providing direct server and platform support to customers. Additionally, the administrator is responsible for identifying, proposing, managing, and installing third-party integrated applications essential to platform support, along with tactical awareness considerations.
This person will maintain security compliance by managing and maintaining patches, offering technical support for various applications, devices, and troubleshooting platform and end-user appliance issues. Coordination with application development teams and mobile device management teams within the US Secret Service (USSS) is necessary for platform functionality updates and mobile appliance integration, respectively. Furthermore, the administrator will support enterprise workstation set-up, diagnosis, updates, and sustainment.
Beyond technical duties, the Junior Server Administrator will aid in developing system administration policies, crafting maintenance plans, establishing operational procedures, and preparing guidance and documentation to assist technicians, users, and helpdesk teams. This collaboration ensures all end-users and support staff are equipped with clear instructional materials that foster efficient system operation.
The role also offers involvement in integrating platform servers into small teams and mission-planning systems as requested by agency program managers. The Junior Server Administrator will contribute recommendations and support to coordinate capability enhancements initiated by the Department of Defense, helping secure operational approvals, certifications, and internal agency clearances necessary for implementation. By documenting newly identified mission capabilities stemming from emerging technology enhancements, the administrator ensures timely submission to program managers for review and potential incorporation into current platforms.
This dynamic junior-level position requires at least one year of IT server administration experience, with specialized knowledge in Azure cloud computing, Linux environments (such as Red Hat and CentOS), Windows environments, VMware, network security, mobile applications (iOS and Android), mobile device management, integrated and tactical radio networks, and geospatial/mapping caching servers. Puyenpa offers a supportive work environment with opportunities to grow and expand technical skills within government technology programs, making this an ideal starting point for individuals aiming to build a career in IT system administration within a federal context.
