Currently, Puyenpa is seeking a Junior Server Administrator to join their dynamic team supporting the Team Awareness Kit Interagency program. This position is classified as a full-time equivalent (FTE) role based onsite at a government facility located in Washington DC. The role occasionally allows for situational telework, subject to coordination with the Program Manager and Contracting Officer Representative (COR). A Public Trust background investigation is mandatory for this position, reflecting the sensitive and high-security environment within which the candidate will operate.

The Junior Server Administrator position offers an exciting opportunity to develop and hone skills in server management, platform support, and security compliance within a federal government context. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining server installations, operating system updates, and managing platform server modifications, patches, and updates. Additionally, they will provide essential server and platform support for various customers, ensuring smooth and continuous operations.

The role involves identifying, proposing, and managing third-party integrated applications necessary to support the platform, specifically geared towards the Tactical Awareness Kit Interagency Operability program. The Junior Server Administrator will also manage patches diligently to ensure security compliance and offer technical support for applications, appliances, devices, and troubleshooting related to the platform and associated third-party applications.

Coordination with Application Development and Mobile Device Management teams within the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) is another critical aspect of this role, requiring excellent communication and collaboration skills to support updates, functionality improvements, and platform maintenance. The individual will also support enterprise workstation installations, diagnostics, updates, and sustainment while contributing to the development of system administration policies, daily maintenance procedures, and support activities.

Beyond technical responsibilities, the Junior Server Administrator will assist in creating comprehensive maintenance plans, operational procedures, guidance documentation, and program documentation to support technicians, end-users, and help desk personnel. They will play an integral role in integrating platform servers into small teams and mission planning systems upon request, supporting operational efficiency for agency program managers.

This position also offers the opportunity to contribute to broader capability enhancements developed by the Department of Defense, including assisting with operational approvals, certifications, and agency endorsements required for implementation. Job Requirements

  • Education equivalent to a high school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 1 year of IT server administration experience
  • Ability to work onsite at a government facility in Washington DC
  • Must be able to obtain a Public Trust background investigation
  • Proficiency in Azure Cloud computing
  • Experience with Linux (Red Hat / CentOS) and Windows environments
  • Familiarity with VMware environments
  • Knowledge of network security principles
  • Understanding of mobile applications (iOS and Android)
  • Experience with Mobile Device Management
  • Ability to support integrated and tactical radio networks
  • Experience with geospatial and mapping caching servers
  • Good communication and coordination skills

Job Duties

  • Maintain Server installation and operating system updates
  • Track, manage and sustain Platform Server modifications, updates, modifications, patches
  • Provide Server and/or Platform support for customers
  • Identify, propose, manage, install, configure, sustain and support third party integrated application required to support the platform
  • Manage and maintain all patches to ensure Security Compliance
  • Provide technical support for application, appliance, device support and/or troubleshooting of the platform, third party applications associated to the platform and end user devices/appliances
  • Coordinate with and support Application Development teams working within the USSS for updates required for platform functionality
  • Coordinate with and support Mobile Device Management teams within the USSS needed for platform, application and/or end user appliances
  • Support installations, diagnosis, updates and sustainment of enterprise workstations
  • Support the development of system administration policy, requirements and daily maintenance procedures and support activities
  • Support the creation of maintenance plans, operational procedures, how to guidance, program documentation used by support technicians, users, help desk etc
  • Support the integrate platform servers in small team and mission planning systems upon request by agency program managers
  • Provide recommendations and support efforts to coordinate capability enhancements developed by the Department of Defense to receive operational approvals, certifications, and internal agency approvals needed for implementation
  • Document newly identified mission cap based on emerging technology improvements/enhancements and submit to agency program managers for review and potential integration to the current platform
