Job Description
Provider Contract Food Service is a respected culinary and hospitality organization that has been delivering exceptional dining experiences for over 20 years. Our extensive operations include a variety of services such as Cafes, Catering, and Restaurants, collectively serving more than 30,000 meals per week. Currently, we are expanding our Food Service Team at our Arizona Christian University location in Arizona with an exciting opportunity for a Jr. Sous Chef. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between the front of the house and kitchen operations, ensuring seamless communication and coordination among culinary staff. The Jr. Sous Chef plays a crucial part in sustaining the quality and consistency of the food served by overseeing kitchen activities, handling food order management, and contributing to staff training and development.
The Jr. Sous Chef is entrusted with responsibilities that include but are not limited to ordering and managing products, butchering proteins with precision, and overseeing daily kitchen discipline to maintain an efficient and productive environment. In collaboration with the Chef de Cuisine and Executive Chef, this position actively participates in preparing and assembling food while ensuring adherence to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines. The role demands a deep knowledge of cooking techniques, including the preparation of base sauces, stocks, soups, and compound sauces derived from mother sauces.
Technical skills such as advanced knife handling and familiarity with specialized kitchen equipment like slicers, steamers, deep fryers, and grills are essential. Moreover, the Jr. Sous Chef is responsible for maintaining inventory control, preparing daily prep lists, and ensuring the kitchen adheres to food safety standards, including labeling, dating, and rotating food items following the first-in, first-out method.

Job Requirements
- Minimum five years of experience in food preparation, food knowledge and kitchen staff supervision
- Ability to demonstrate advanced knife skills and knowledge of different knife cuts
- Working knowledge of weights, measures, and various cooking techniques
- Knowledge of MSDS program
- Ability to stand on a hard surface for long periods of time
- Ability to tolerate areas with extreme hot and cold temperatures
- Must possess effective communication and organizational skills
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Must have experience with Google suite, Point of Sale system, Internet/Intranet, Gmail and Slack
- Must be able to successfully pass applicable auditions or skill testing
