Job Description

We are hiring for the position of Joint Force Development & Training HICON Event Planning Action Officer to support the U.S. Space Command Joint Force Development and Training Directorate (J7). This is a full-time role stationed at Peterson Space Force Base and Schriever Space Force Base, requiring an active TS/SCI clearance due to the sensitive nature of the work. The position involves up to 25% travel both within the continental United States and internationally (CONUS/OCONUS). The employer is a government-related entity working closely with U.S. Space Command, a unified combatant command responsible for military space operations and strategic space capabilities.

The U.S. Space Command serves a critical role in safeguarding the nation and its interests in space by integrating space-based capabilities into global military operations. This makes the role of Joint Force Development & Training HICON Event Planning Action Officer vital in ensuring that exercises and training events are meticulously planned and executed, thereby enhancing overall joint force readiness. The Directorate J7 focuses primarily on joint training, exercises, and joint force development, working to improve interoperability across services and allied partners.

The primary responsibility of the Action Officer role is to provide comprehensive planning, coordination, and execution support for High Control (HICON) emulation activities. These activities support Tier 1 and Tier 2 exercises, tabletop exercises (TTXs), wargames, and professional development seminars designed to simulate and enhance military readiness. This role demands expertise in the Combatant Command-level training and exercise environment, specifically the Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) planning process. The incumbent will serve as the principal coordinator for High Control event planning and execution, ensuring that all operational, logistical, staffing, and security aspects of exercises are aligned and efficiently managed.

This Action Officer will attend and contribute to critical in-progress reviews (IPRs), planning conferences, and various JELC events to synchronize exercise objectives and execution strategies with senior military leadership and other stakeholders. The role also involves developing and maintaining detailed Plans of Action & Milestones (POA&M), project schedules, and roadmaps to track progress and ensure timely completion of milestones. The Officer will prepare executive-level briefings, reports, meeting minutes, and after-action summaries to capture and communicate lessons learned and recommendations for future exercises.

Managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced classified and unclassified environment is essential. This includes supporting secure government facilities, coordinating travel and funding projections, and collaborating with government stakeholders and technical representatives to ensure mission success. This position requires someone with strong communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project, and the ability to produce high-quality analytical and operational documentation for senior leadership.

The ideal candidate brings at least eight years of relevant military, government, or contractor experience alongside a bachelor's degree. Experience with Combatant Command exercises, wargames, or operational planning and a deep understanding of Joint Exercise Life Cycle (JELC) processes are also required. Preferred qualifications include prior experience with U.S. Space Command or other Combatant Commands, knowledge of space operations and joint warfighting concepts, and experience with multinational exercises and interagency coordination. Prior military operational planning or exercise control experience is highly valued.

Work conditions may include evening, weekend, or extended hours during exercise execution, and travel both domestically and internationally. The position is contingent upon contract award and is committed to equal opportunity employment, ensuring all qualified candidates are considered regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
