The Porter role at KBS is an essential position designed for individuals who thrive in a high-volume, fast-paced setting, often working in areas with heavy foot traffic or as part of an individual onsite crew. The Porter is responsible for executing cleaning services while maintaining strong customer relationships and adapting to daily operational needs. The role demands excellent customer service skills, the ability to prioritize tasks, and capacity for problem-solving to effectively manage and fulfill work requests. Porters often interact directly with customers and must be able to communicate clearly and effectively to respond to their requests and expectations.
This position is hourly and non-exempt, with a starting pay of $12 per hour. Shifts are available from 7 am to 3:30 pm, providing a structured schedule suitable for various personal commitments. Porters are required to work standing or walking for extended periods — up to 10-12 hours — and must be capable of lifting and moving totes weighing up to 49 pounds. Work frequently involves following safety protocols, handling cleaning chemicals properly, and interpreting job-related instructions, manuals, and safety documents, which are primarily in English but may also be available in Spanish where required by state laws.
KBS uses the KBSPresence mobile timekeeping software to track work hours accurately, manage attendance, facilitate training completion, and distribute important employment information. Employees participating in non-exempt roles like Porter are mandated to use this app on their personal mobile devices for clocking in and out during shifts and breaks, with cell phone reimbursement provided based on local regulations.
