Job Description
Cocopah Casino, located in Arizona, is a prominent entertainment and gaming establishment operated by the Cocopah Indian Tribe. It is renowned for providing exceptional gaming experiences and hospitality services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. As a key player in the entertainment industry, the casino is dedicated to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for its guests and employees alike. The casino offers a wide range of amenities and continuously seeks qualified individuals who are committed to supporting its operational excellence and community values.
The role of Janitorial Maintenance Worker at Cocopah Casino is a vital position responsible for ensuring the entire establishment remains in a clean and orderly condition. This role operates under the immediate supervision of the Janitorial Maintenance Lead. Employees in this position perform a variety of heavy cleaning duties, which include operating motor-driven cleaning equipment, mopping floors, cleaning lavatories, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. The role goes beyond basic cleaning; it also involves routine maintenance activities and restocking supplies, contributing to the smooth functioning of the casino’s facilities. Attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and compliance with departmental internal control regulations are critical aspects of this job.
Candidates accepting this role must be prepared to work any shift due to the casino's 24/7 operational nature, including night shifts and weekends. Additionally, the employee will act as a runner when stocking supplies, ensuring that all janitorial materials and tools are adequately distributed to different departments. Successful applicants must be certified through the Tribal Gaming Office and the Arizona Department of Gaming, ensuring a secure environment for all patrons and staff. Moreover, there is a strict policy requiring pre-employment and ongoing random drug and alcohol testing, reflecting the casino's commitment to maintaining a safe and professional workplace.
This position favors applicants with a high school diploma or GED, although a blend of relevant education and experience is also acceptable. Knowledge of motor-driven cleaning equipment and general cleaning principles is highly desirable. Physical fitness is essential, as the job requires considerable walking and lifting. Potential candidates should be aware that the work environment may include excessive noise, smoke, and stress, typical of a lively entertainment venue.
Cocopah Casino offers excellent fringe benefits for full-time employees, such as medical, dental, and vision insurance, life and AD&D insurance, employee assistance programs, and a 401K plan with an employer match. Additional ancillary benefits like AFLAC and voluntary term life insurance (VTL) are also provided. These benefits highlight the casino’s commitment to supporting their employees’ well-being beyond just the workplace duties.
In compliance with the Cocopah Casino and Cocopah Indian Tribe’s employment policies, applicants must meet strict suitability standards to gain employment. Individuals with certain criminal backgrounds, including felonies and misdemeanors related to shoplifting, weapons offenses, theft, domestic violence, or multiple drug convictions, are not eligible for employment. The hiring process ensures pay fairness, with starting salaries set according to education and experience and within pay grade midpoints. The casino is an equal employment opportunity employer and promotes employment preferences for Native American applicants and current employees. Overall, this role offers a stable work opportunity within a unique gaming and entertainment environment that values integrity, service quality, and employee development.
