Job Description
ABM (NYSE: ABM) stands as one of the world’s largest and most trusted providers of facility services and solutions. Established in 1909, this company has developed into a driving force for cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environments, offering a wide array of essential services that improve and maintain the spaces around us. Serving over 20,000 clients globally with an annual revenue near $8 billion and employing more than 100,000 team members across 350+ offices in the United States, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and other locations, ABM delivers reliable and innovative solutions to various industries including commercial office buildings, airports, hospitals, universities, data centers, manufacturing plants, entertainment venues, and more. Their offerings range from janitorial and engineering services to energy solutions, electrical and lighting, HVAC and mechanical work, landscape and turf care, parking management, and mission-critical solutions.
Joining ABM means becoming part of a military-friendly organization that values diversity, equity, and inclusion. The company embraces qualified applicants without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status. ABM is committed to reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities and participates in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security E-Verify program to ensure employment eligibility. This framework supports a culture that respects people and encourages growth, especially for veterans transitioning into civilian careers.
The role of Cleaner at ABM is an excellent opportunity for individuals entering or re-entering the workforce, particularly those with limited experience and education. The Cleaner is responsible for the thorough cleaning and upkeep of assigned buildings or facilities, ensuring a safe, hygienic, and pleasant environment. The company provides on-the-job training, meaning no prior experience or specific educational credentials like a high school diploma or GED are required. Candidates must be at least 18 years old.
As a Cleaner, you will execute various tasks such as maintaining cleanliness of furniture, fixtures, floors, ceilings, walls, and equipment. You will also follow properly established procedures for chemical cleaner and power equipment use, helping to protect building surfaces and machinery. Additionally, this role involves notifying management about needed repairs or additions to building systems, maintaining good communication with coworkers and supervisors, and adhering strictly to safety, security, compliance, and quality standards set by ABM and its clients.
Your duties will also include handling trash collection, washing and replacing blinds, cleaning glass surfaces, and performing seasonal support tasks such as sweeping walks, raking leaves, or removing snow. The role demands reliability, an eye for detail, and the ability to work well independently and as part of a team. Ideal candidates may bring prior customer service experience or a minimum of one year in a similar cleaning role, but these are preferred rather than required qualifications.
ABM offers a comprehensive benefits package, making this role not just a job but a career starter with potential for growth within a globally recognized company. The organization is dedicated to fostering an inclusive environment where employees can thrive, grow their skills, and contribute meaningfully to creating cleaner, healthier spaces. This position is particularly well-suited for those who appreciate structure, consistency, and making visible impacts through their work in maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety in commercial environments.
