The Janitorial Crew Lead role at KBS is a full-time position offering a competitive starting wage of $16.50 per hour. This role is critical within the Janitorial Services Team, playing a pivotal part in the daily execution and oversight of janitorial tasks within a fast-paced distribution center environment. The position involves direct leadership and coordination of a crew, ensuring that cleaning and facility maintenance tasks are performed efficiently, safely, and to the high standards set by KBS. Crew Leads act as liaisons between the crew members and management, facilitating open communication, providing guidance, and resolving any issues that arise. The role demands a proactive approach to leadership where the Crew Lead inspires and motivates the team, leads by example, and ensures that all team members understand their duties and responsibilities.

Additionally, the Crew Lead interacts regularly with clients to offer professional and responsive customer service, aiming to exceed client expectations at every opportunity. Responsibilities also include assisting supervisors or zone managers with new hire orientation, ongoing training, and even participating in interview processes. The schedule offers flexibility across shifts on weekdays and weekends, designed to accommodate operational needs. KBS also emphasizes the importance of technology adoption with the use of its KBSPresence mobile timekeeping software, requiring all non-exempt employees to use mobile devices for accurate work hour tracking and attendance management, supported by cell phone reimbursement in compliance with local regulations. Job Requirements

  • Experience in janitorial operations and distribution center environment strongly preferred
  • 1-3 years in a lead or supervisory role
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and safe handling for chemicals sheets/documents generally in English
  • Ability to follow OSHA requirements, safety guidelines, and forklift instructions
  • Customer service oriented, friendly, and positive demeanor with ability to motivate team members and support customer requests in an orderly and timely manner
  • Use of KBSPresence mobile timekeeping app on personal mobile devices with cell phone reimbursement as per local laws

Job Qualifications

  • Experience in janitorial operations and distribution center environment preferred
  • 1-3 years in a lead or supervisory role
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and chemical safety documents
  • Customer service oriented with a friendly and positive demeanor
  • Competent in using mobile timekeeping software
  • Strong leadership and communication skills

Job Duties

  • Perform site crew tasks and ensure tasks are fully executed at site
  • Interact with clients to provide professional and prompt customer service as needed
  • Provide direction and task coordination for assigned crew
  • Ensure crew members are knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy
  • Collaborate with crew to ensure coordination and successful execution of daily operations and timely resolution of deficiencies
  • Assist supervisor or zone manager with new hires and training
  • Motivate crew members, provide support and clarity, and lead by example
