Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2+ years of custodial or janitorial experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch frequently
  • ability to lift and carry supplies, equipment, or trash bags typically weighing 25-50 pounds
  • tolerance for exposure to cleaning chemicals, dust, and varying temperatures, especially when working outdoors
  • availability to work early mornings, nights, and weekends
  • must have good eyesight and ability to communicate over two-way radios

Job Qualifications

  • minimum 2 years of custodial or janitorial experience
  • at least 1 year of supervisory experience
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • knowledge of cleaning protocols and safety standards
  • ability to conduct training and provide feedback
  • excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • experience with inventory and supply management
  • proficiency in timekeeping and scheduling
  • ability to collaborate with multiple departments
  • understanding of public health guidelines related to cleaning

Job Duties

  • Actively participate in daily cleaning tasks alongside the janitorial team to ensure facility cleanliness and model best practices
  • supervise, mentor, and evaluate janitorial staff performance
  • inspect completed tasks for quality assurance and provide real-time feedback and corrective instruction
  • conduct onboarding and ongoing training in cleaning protocols, safety procedures, and customer service
  • foster a positive team culture that values accountability and pride in work
  • create and maintain work schedules for the janitorial team based on operational needs
  • monitor usage and maintain stock of cleaning supplies and PPE
  • coordinate maintenance and repair of janitorial equipment
  • research and recommend new tools or products to improve departmental efficiency
  • track attendance, timekeeping, and task completion
  • stay updated on public health guidelines and adjust cleaning practices as needed
  • respond promptly to service requests, complaints, or special cleaning needs
  • collaborate with maintenance, security, or event teams to align cleaning with broader operations
  • serve as liaison between janitorial staff and management
  • attend interdepartmental meetings and participate in planning for events requiring housekeeping support including weekends, holidays, and evenings
  • perform all other duties as assigned
