Job Description
National Aviation Services (NAS) is a global leader in aviation services, specializing in providing exceptional ground handling, cargo, and passenger services across multiple international airports. With a strong presence in the airport services industry, NAS has built a reputable name by consistently delivering reliable, efficient, and safety-focused solutions for airports and airlines. The company prides itself on fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace culture, promoting equal employment opportunities, and offering career growth for its employees. Operating in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, NAS plays a pivotal role in ensuring seamless airport operations, enhancing passenger experiences, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, security, and customer service.
This position at NAS is for a Building Maintenance Cleaner at Manchester Airport (MHT). The role involves executing janitorial duties primarily during the third shift to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of various airport facilities including rooms, offices, lounges, restrooms, corridors, jet bridges, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other designated areas under the supervision of the Station Manager. The Building Maintenance Cleaner is vital to maintaining a safe and welcoming environment for passengers, airport staff, and visitors by performing specialized cleaning tasks using appropriate equipment and materials. This demanding role requires the ability to work overnight shifts and on weekends or holidays without fail, as airport operations are continuous.
The responsibilities encompass a wide range of cleaning functions such as polishing marble surfaces and lighting fixtures, sweeping, mopping, waxing floors, vacuuming carpets, dusting furniture, polishing metalwork, cleaning walls and windows, replenishing supplies, and safely disposing of waste. The position also demands adherence to safety protocols and security regulations, including obtaining necessary airport authority and customs badges and clearing FAA criminal background checks for access to secured airport areas when applicable. Physical agility and endurance are critical, as the job involves frequent lifting of materials up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, along with standing, walking, bending, and climbing for extended periods.
National Aviation Services emphasizes compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), ensuring a supportive work environment with reasonable accommodations for employees or applicants with disabilities or pregnancy-related needs. Additionally, NAS is committed to creating an equitable workplace that values diverse perspectives and ensures non-discrimination based on any protected characteristic under federal, state, or local laws. This commitment not only promotes employee wellbeing but also enhances operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
This role requires candidates to have a high school diploma or GED along with at least three years of relevant cleaning experience or an equivalent blend of education and work history. Candidates must demonstrate basic communication abilities, including reading and speaking simple sentences. Job duties include using specialized cleaning solutions and equipment, occasionally operating vehicles or equipment like golf carts, and the ability to respond flexibly to emergencies or operational changes by working overtime at short notice. The third shift timing makes this an ideal opportunity for individuals seeking overnight work with a reputable aviation services company committed to excellence and employee support.
