The role of Janitor is integral within the Environmental Services department at SUNY Upstate Medical University. This position is available on both a part-time and full-time basis with varying shifts and multiple locations across the Syracuse campus. The Janitor will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitary conditions in assigned areas, which include public spaces, patient care zones, and staff work areas. This role involves a variety of cleaning duties to ensure a safe, hygienic, and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and employees. Beyond routine cleaning, the Janitor may be called upon to lead other cleaning staff, assigning work, providing guidance, and overseeing cleaning projects to ensure they meet established standards and schedules.

The duties of the Janitor are multifaceted and focus on maintaining an exemplary level of cleanliness throughout the facility. Tasks include mopping, waxing, buffing floors, washing walls, corridors, and partitions, and cleaning stairwells.
