Job Description

Denali Universal Services (DUS) is a reputable service provider specializing in support services for remote and challenging work environments such as camps on the North Slope of Alaska. As a company committed to operational excellence and employee well-being, DUS offers a unique employment experience characterized by rotational work schedules and comprehensive benefits. DUS is recognized for its dedication to safety, reliability, and fostering a collaborative team atmosphere, making it a preferred employer for individuals seeking both stability and adventure in their careers.

This job opening is for the position of Janitor at a remote camp located on the North Slope of Alaska. The role is designed for dependable, detail-oriented candidates who thrive in fast-paced, team-oriented settings and are comfortable with the demands of remote industrial camp operations. Employees will operate under a rotational schedule consisting of three weeks on duty followed by three weeks off, enabling a work-life balance that includes extended periods of personal time.

The janitorial responsibilities encompass maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of a variety of critical areas including common areas, offices, living quarters, kitchens, and restrooms. The scope of work includes comprehensive floor care involving sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, stripping, extracting, waxing, buffing, and vacuuming floor surfaces. In addition to custodial duties, janitors will perform light maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and clearing entryways of snow and debris to ensure safe access to facilities.

Work shifts are structured as 12-hour days, offering 40 hours of straight time complemented by 44 hours of overtime weekly, which provides substantial earning potential. The company covers travel arrangements and costs from Anchorage to the job site and provides free housing and meals during rotations, enhancing the overall job attractiveness.

Successful candidates will demonstrate safety consciousness, physical endurance, and a proactive approach to team collaboration. This role demands sustained alertness and adherence to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) and following company policies to maintain a secure work environment. Comfortable with the challenges of remote camp living and shared accommodations, janitors contribute to the camp’s smooth operation by ensuring sanitary conditions and functional facilities.

The position not only offers competitive wages and extensive overtime opportunities but also a variety of benefits including comprehensive medical, dental, vision insurance, life insurance, and 401(k) plans with company match. The rotation schedule and free accommodations allow individuals to enjoy an advantageous work arrangement, spending approximately half the year off, allowing for ample rest, travel, or personal activities. This balanced work-life structure is a compelling aspect for candidates interested in seasonal or cyclical employment in a unique setting.

This job is ideal for individuals who are self-motivated, physically capable of long shifts with repetitive physical tasks such as walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting, and who maintain a positive attitude. Denali Universal Services is an Equal Opportunity Employer, committed to diversity and inclusion in its workforce.
