Job Description
Tenderloin Housing Clinic (THC) is a committed nonprofit organization based in San Francisco that plays a vital role in providing supportive housing solutions for formerly homeless single adults. THC specializes in Single Room Occupancy (SRO) hotels, which offer affordable living spaces combined with essential supportive services to individuals often facing challenges such as mental health conditions, medical issues, and substance abuse disorders. THC is known for its comprehensive approach to housing that emphasizes dignity, respect, and community integration for tenants. The organization has earned a reputation for making significant positive impacts on the lives of vulnerable populations by creating stable environments that foster recovery, health, and independence.
Tenderloin Housing Clinic is currently seeking dedicated Janitors to join their team. These positions are available on both full-time and part-time bases, offering an hourly wage of $23.00. The janitorial roles at THC are not simply custodial; they are integral to creating and maintaining safe, clean, and welcoming environments for the tenants. The janitors are viewed as an essential part of the tenant support team, underscoring the organization’s philosophy that every staff member contributes to the well-being of its residents. This role demands candidates who possess robust janitorial skills and an ability to handle the fast-paced environment of an SRO hotel while demonstrating care and respect for tenants’ living spaces.
Successful janitors will be responsible for routine building maintenance activities including sweeping, vacuuming, mopping floors, cleaning communal bathrooms, dusting common areas, and managing waste through regular trash removal including compost and recycling. Additional duties involve more specialized tasks such as assisting with unit turnovers, pest control measures, and surface treatments like painting, buffing, stripping, and waxing floors.
Working at THC means being part of a compassionate and mission-driven team dedicated to changing lives through quality supportive housing. Full-time employees benefit from an extensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision insurance, a 403b retirement plan, flexible spending accounts, life and long-term disability insurance, paid vacation, sick days, paid holidays, and floating holidays. The organization also demonstrates a commitment to diversity and inclusion and is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. THC encourages applications from individuals with arrest and conviction records in compliance with the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance. This opportunity is ideal for motivated janitors who seek more than just a cleaning job but want to make a meaningful difference within a supportive housing community.
