The role being offered is an End User Support Specialist position within Alliant Energy’s technology environment. This is a critical role focused on ensuring that end users receive reliable and precise support, particularly under regulatory compliance requirements such as Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation Critical Infrastructure Protection (NERC CIP). The candidate in this position will be responsible for managing ServiceNow tickets, addressing break/fix issues, handling imaging, provisioning, and providing endpoint support across various user devices. The role involves working closely with infrastructure and business teams to maintain performance and support virtualized environments, while also driving system patches, upgrades, and vulnerability remediation efforts. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, hands-on, and motivated by supporting end users in an environment where their work directly impacts operational continuity. Job Requirements

  • Associate degree emphasis in information technology or related area preferred
  • Four years of progressively responsible PC support experience in a networked environment
  • Skilled administrative experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems and software, standard application packages, imaging software, profile migration techniques, client computing hardware, peripherals and general PC troubleshooting and problem resolution
  • Understanding of software application packaging and distribution tools, methods and techniques
  • Working knowledge of network operating systems, LAN characteristics, network topologies, components, protocols and services such as TCP/IP, LDAP, DNS, DHCP, firewalls and routers
  • Effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to apply logical reasoning to derive workable solutions for moderately complex problems
  • Ability to lead project teams on simple technology initiatives preferred
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and inclusive work environment

Job Duties

  • Assist with design, evaluation, recommendation, building and maintenance of computing services, storage environments, PC software, and network connectivity
  • Respond to support tickets and resolve technical issues escalated from the Help Desk within specified timeframes using troubleshooting tools
  • Identify, plan, implement and document procedures for complying with SOX and NERC CIP regulations
  • Maintain disaster recovery plans and participate in disaster recovery drills
  • Coordinate server, network, PC, and storage conversions, patches and upgrades
  • Coordinate system tuning to optimize system performance and maintain service levels
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and training materials for end users
  • Provide consulting, technical guidance, and information to applications development staff and other corporate employees
  • Ensure systems operate as designed, evaluate change requests, provide routine maintenance, document processes and suggest system improvements
  • Monitor, manage and maintain hardware and software inventories
  • Prepare requisitions and purchase orders and assist with compliance to government rules and regulations
  • Engage in other duties supporting Alliant Energy's values and purpose
