Job Requirements

  • HS diploma or GED or equivalent
  • completion of company orientation upon hire
  • food safety and sanitation training upon hire
  • ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment performing detailed and precise tasks
  • ability to work with customers attentively
  • ability to lift and manage weight according to department needs (up to 50-55 lbs regularly, and over 65-70 lbs with assistance)
  • willingness to work under various environmental conditions such as wet, cold, hot, and noisy conditions
  • readiness to perform physical tasks including reaching, grasping, standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, stair climbing, pivoting, twisting, pushing, pulling, pinching, and fine motor movements according to department

Job Duties

  • Provides superior customer service
  • takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
  • answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections
  • prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
  • slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
  • assists in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
  • uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
  • cleans and sanitizes display cases
  • operates and maintains equipment properly

  • complies with department and store operating procedures
  • records production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery specific)
  • takes care of service counter customers (deli specific)

  • ensures catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup if applicable
  • performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
  • serves and packages products at customer's request (prepared foods)
