Job Requirements
- HS diploma or GED or equivalent
- completion of company orientation upon hire
- food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment performing detailed and precise tasks
- ability to work with customers attentively
- ability to lift and manage weight according to department needs (up to 50-55 lbs regularly, and over 65-70 lbs with assistance)
- willingness to work under various environmental conditions such as wet, cold, hot, and noisy conditions
- readiness to perform physical tasks including reaching, grasping, standing, walking, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, stair climbing, pivoting, twisting, pushing, pulling, pinching, and fine motor movements according to department

Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answers customer questions regarding products and assists them with selections
- prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- assists in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
- uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- cleans and sanitizes display cases
- operates and maintains equipment properly
- complies with food safety and sanitation standards
- complies with department and store operating procedures
- records production and shrink to aid in production planning (bakery specific)
- takes care of service counter customers (deli specific)
- uses ordering system applications and fresh production planner
- performs inventory management processes as required
- ensures catering orders are prepared and ready for customer pickup if applicable
- performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
- serves and packages products at customer's request (prepared foods)
- educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- prepackages condiments
- cuts, slices, dices, chops food in preparation for chefs
