The Later Shift Associate position at Marukai Corporation is integral to maintaining this high standard of customer service, particularly during busy evening hours on Monday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. This role focuses on ensuring that every customer interaction is positive, efficient, and meets the company’s service excellence criteria. As a Later Shift Associate in the Customer Service Department, you will be responsible for delivering premier service — greeting customers warmly, addressing inquiries, handling transactions with speed and accuracy, and assisting with suggestive selling to meet or exceed sales goals. The role also involves operational duties such as opening and closing cash registers, managing cash counts, processing returns according to company policies, and organizing the Customer Service section to maintain a clean, safe, and inviting environment.
In addition to direct customer engagement, this role demands flexibility and teamwork. Associates are expected to support various departments through cross-training initiatives, stepping in when needed to assist in related areas, thereby promoting a collaborative workplace culture. The Later Shift Associate must also adhere strictly to company policies and safety regulations, including possessing or obtaining necessary licenses such as a food handling license. This position requires individuals who are at least 18 years old, can comfortably lift up to 20 pounds, and have prior experience or willingness to learn in retail or customer service-oriented environments. While no formal experience is mandatory, preference is given to candidates with 1-2 years of related practice, particularly those who have worked as a Retail Associate, Cashier, or Grocery Clerk. Strong communication skills, the ability to follow instructions, and a commitment to meeting the company’s operative standards are essential qualities for success in this role. Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
- must be 18 or older to use sharp knives, ladders, scaffolds above 6 feet, and operate power-driven equipment
- ability to use job-related equipment like ladders and dollies
- minimum of 1-2 years work experience in a similar environment preferred
- previous experience as a Retail Associate, Cashier, or Grocery Clerk preferred
- able to lift up to 20 pounds without aid
