Job Description
TravelCenters of America (TA) is a leading operator of travel centers and truck stops across the United States, providing essential services such as fuel, food, truck maintenance, and convenience retail options to millions of professional truck drivers and motorists every day. For over 50 years, TA has been committed to delivering exceptional experiences to travelers by offering convenient, one-stop shopping locations featuring an array of amenities and dining choices. The company is headquartered in Westlake, Ohio, and continues to expand its network through a focus on innovative technology, alternative energy solutions, and sustainability initiatives.
TA fosters a collaborative and inclusive workplace where every employee is recognized as a vital stakeholder in the company's ongoing success and growth. The organization promotes career advancement and values team members who contribute their ideas, dedication, and passion towards improving the customer experience and shaping the future of the travel center industry.
The Cook role at TravelCenters of America is an integral part of the restaurant team, responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality food to our guests, ensuring they leave refreshed and ready to continue their journey. This position is centered around providing excellent customer service in a fun and trusting environment. A Cook at TA performs a variety of kitchen duties, including prep work such as washing, chopping, and sorting ingredients, as well as cooking tasks involving broilers, fryers, and grill stations. The role requires adherence to food safety and storage guidelines, waste control procedures, and equipment maintenance standards to deliver safe and delicious meals consistently.
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who enjoys working collaboratively, communicates effectively, and is eager to represent TA's commitment to returning every traveler to the road better than when they arrived. While previous food service experience is a plus, the company values dedication and willingness to learn and adapt. Flexible working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, are expected to meet the dynamic needs of the business.
The compensation for this position ranges from $17.00 to $18.00 per hour, depending on experience and specific responsibilities. TravelCenters of America also offers a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; a 401(k) plan with company match; paid vacation and holidays; tuition reimbursement; meal discounts; and various other employee savings programs on technology, travel, food, and fuel.
At TA, the work environment is lively and occasionally fast-paced, with exposure to a variety of conditions such as outdoor elements, fumes, mechanical parts, and noise. Physical demands include standing for long periods, occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and frequent movement. However, TA remains committed to accommodating individuals with disabilities to ensure all team members can succeed. The company also champions diversity and inclusion, striving to be an equal opportunity employer that respects all backgrounds and identities.
