Job Description
The Star, Dallas Cowboys World Headquarters, located in Frisco, Texas, is a premier sports and entertainment complex renowned for its state-of-the-art facilities and dynamic event hosting capabilities. As the home base for the Dallas Cowboys, one of the most iconic professional football teams in the NFL, The Star not only serves as the team’s training facility but also as a multipurpose venue catering to a broad spectrum of internal and external events. This establishment thrives on delivering exceptional experiences by combining innovative event planning with top-tier catering services tailored to meet diverse client needs.
The Intern Catering & Special Events Coordinator position offers a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the fast-paced, multifaceted environment of special event management and catering operations within a high-profile sports and entertainment setting. This role is designed to provide invaluable hands-on experience by supporting the day-to-day functions of the special events and catering department. The intern will collaborate closely with the Director of Special Events and department managers to understand and execute a variety of responsibilities tied to event planning and catering logistics.
Central to this role is the development of practical skills in planning, detailing, and executing catering requests for both internal meetings and large-scale special events. The intern will gain exposure to creating and managing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), which are critical documents detailing all aspects of event catering, from menu selection to scheduling and setup. The Coordinator will work in tandem with the culinary teams to select appropriate menu options and manage internal cost tracking, ensuring operational efficiency and client satisfaction.
Beyond catering logistics, the Intern Coordinator will also be involved in generating floor plans, event orders for ticketed events, and event logistics reports, contributing to a smooth and successful execution of events. Regular interaction with various departments, including accounting for timely invoicing and stadium production staff for event coordination, is an essential part of the position. The individual in this role will gain insight into the complexities of event management, such as conflict resolution and onsite event management covering both front and back of house operations.
This internship is particularly suitable for candidates eager to build a career in hospitality, event planning, or sports event management. With a structured focus on learning and development, the position fosters a deep understanding of catering systems like Momentous, Reserve, and Delphi, as well as event diagram tools such as Social Tables and Visio. The opportunity also emphasizes the enhancement of customer service skills, creativity, and multitasking within a fast-paced environment.
Overall, this role supports The Star’s commitment to hosting exceptional events that reflect the quality and prestige associated with the Dallas Cowboys brand. The experience gained will be instrumental for those looking to excel in the hospitality and special events industry, particularly within high-energy and high-profile venues. This internship is a stepping stone for aspiring professionals to gain competence in coordinating special events catering, driving operational success, and contributing to memorable experiences for clients and guests.
