Job Description

Oakmont Management Group, headquartered in Irvine, California, is a distinguished leader in the senior living industry. The company manages a comprehensive portfolio of communities under the Oakmont Senior Living and Ivy Living brands. Serving thousands of seniors across California, Nevada, and Hawaii, Oakmont Management Group prioritizes creating an atmosphere of family and community among team members, residents, and resident families. With a commitment to nurturing meaningful and caring relationships, Oakmont recognizes these bonds as the foundation for a rewarding life. Their dedicated teams are carefully selected based on skills, experience, and a genuine passion for working with the elderly population. Oakmont's communities are known for blending joy and laughter with a relentless pursuit of excellence, reflecting a true pride of ownership and unwavering dedication to service.

The Interim Traveling Executive Chef role at Oakmont Management Group plays a pivotal role in maintaining and elevating the culinary standards across assigned communities in Southern California. This assignment-based interim position requires the chef to provide temporary but essential leadership by offering coverage for Executive Chefs during various assignments across multiple community sites. This role demands flexibility and readiness for extensive travel, often up to 95 percent or more, with assignments spanning different regions based on priority and operational needs. As these travel assignments may vary in length and location, the incumbent must be adaptable with availability at short notice.

The Interim Traveling Executive Chef’s responsibilities include leading all culinary operations at assigned communities by ensuring excellence in food production, menu execution, and service standards. This involves overseeing recruiting efforts for culinary staff both in back of house (BOH) and front of house (FOH) roles, ensuring a positive candidate experience during interviews, and supporting chef testing when necessary. The chef also collaborates with marketing teams to enhance culinary offerings through strategic event planning and execution.

This role is created as a transitional pathway ultimately leading to a permanent Executive Chef position within a community. While compensation is based strictly on periods of active assignment, the role offers a competitive salary range of $80,000 to $85,000 per year. The position calls for a leader who can articulate the culinary vision and uphold a culture of culinary excellence throughout the community. Proven leadership skills, comprehensive knowledge of culinary practices, and the ability to foster a supportive and productive workplace culture are vital. The Interim Traveling Executive Chef is also expected to proficiently use culinary software and Microsoft Office Suite to manage operations efficiently.

Candidates for this position should be prepared to undergo a criminal background check and comply with health and safety measures related to communicable diseases, including COVID-19, as per regulatory guidelines. With Oakmont’s sizable geographical footprint, the role provides significant opportunities for professional growth, relocation, and travel, enriching the chef’s career experience while contributing meaningfully to the wellbeing and enjoyment of senior residents.
